Appraisal Trade-in Price
Written by 04/15/2015
onAuto Barn appraised trade in 30% under an appraisal issued 1/2 hour earlier from another dealer. Also 20% under what Edmunds listed as a Dealer trade-in value. Should have informed consumer not interested in trade rather than insult with low-ball bid. Poor sales tatics still being practiced @ Auto Barn in a world full of internet knowledge. Be prepared and reccomend you car shop other Subaru Dealerships prior to purchasing thru Auto Barn.

Dealer Response
Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We welcome all types of feedback; good, bad or indifferent. Comments from customers, or potential customers, help us to continually grow and improve as an organization. Since your particular opinions were voiced anonymously, we cannot address them specifically. We would, however, like to address them on a general basis.
Pre-owned vehicle values are much like any other commodity, and they do fluctuate. Online appraisal estimators, like Edmunds, use an average price for vehicles sold at auction given a certain combination of mileage, equipment and condition. Because these conditions vary widely, the figures are merely an estimate, and must be verified by a physical inspection conducted by an experienced appraiser. Many dealerships will also artificially inflate the appraisal amount by taking dollars from another part of the overall deal (new car selling price, OEM incentives, finance rate, etc.). The Autobarn always appraises a vehicle at its true value after taking into consideration all the factors that contribute to a vehicles overall condition. Ideally this should have been explained to you when your appraisal was presented, but apparently we fell short in that regard. Because of your comments, we have taken steps to improve the transparency of our appraisal process, and thank you again for your constructive criticisms.
