Dealership Sales Review

2 out of 5 starssales Rating
Poor customer service from the very top of the chain of command
Written by dr_detroit on 10/25/2009

I was searching for a specific used european exotic sports car through an car search and found the car at this dealership (amongst many others and many individual sellers). I sent the dealership a message inquiring of the car through the online search service and I get a reply back from Mr. Pat Milligan himself, the PRESIDENT of the dealership. Now mind you, I didn't know who would field the online request as the search service does not say, but the dealer sets that up on their end, so apparently Mr. Milligan had set it up to go to his personal email. "Well," I'm thinking, "now this is service! The president of the dealership is willing to field the inquiry of a prospective buyer from out of state." The next email exchange couldn't have proved me more incorrect. After reading Mr. Milligan's initial reply and feeling satisfied with his responses to my questions, I reply back that I am out of state and 5-6 hours drive from the dealership, can I call to talk numbers and specifics of the deal with someone before taking time out of a busy schedule at my practice to drive all the way to see the car... The President of the dealership's abrupt reply (remember, this is NOT an inexpensive used car and this current economy, especially for dealerships, is very poor) simply: "i am out of town for the winter...if you are interested you need to come and see the vehicle...thanks" My further replies to his email went unanswered. Needless to say, I didn't wait more than a day to go with a different seller. If this was the customer service I got from the President, I couldn't imagine what dealing with "the closer" would be like. Maybe I'm off base, but when you come to the dealership with a pile of money, I expect a little bit of courtship out of the whole thing, maybe some level of accommodation. If the dealer isn't there to work with the customer, they are only a middle-man between the buyer and the car he/she wants waiting to add on fees to get a piece of the pie. I had much better luck with an individual seller. Good Luck Metro Ford!
