Scam, altered Carfax and does have an accident
Written by The old guy from Montana on 04/07/2025

I drove 500 mi to buy Mercedes from this place. They used an off-brand Carfax to show only five owners and no accidents. I did my own Carfax and found that it actually had seven owners and an accident. When I got there not only did it not have a spare tire but it also had a cracked windshield from pillar to pillar straight across the field of vision making it illegal to even drive. They offered a maximum of $200 off for the windshield and the accident damage which was clear upon inspection underneath the vehicle. Because I was offering cash they made it quite clear that their business model is about in-house financing. They said they don't make any money on cash and that's why they won't lower the price at all even though it has issues. I actually found the same car on this site just now and I'm responding as a result. This is a predatory loan business model. The dealers are absolutely liars through their teeth. To the point of falsifying the car's history. There is no inspection because they were unaware that there was no spare tire and said they would mail me one but they wouldn't put it in contract. they didn't notice the damage that was quite clear under the car from the accident either. I would take my chances with Ebola before going to this dealership. Buyer beware, buy a real Carfax and do not take the off-brand thing they give you, and expect a higher interest rate through their in-house financing then you would ever get from your own personal bank, regardless of what bank that is. Every stereotype and cliche for a used car dealership is not even appropriate for this place, they are hands down the shadiest dealership I have ever come in contact with in 25 years of buying cars. Do yourself a favor and never go here.

Dealer Response
Taylor, It's unfortunate to see the false and harmful claims you've made, especially considering the level of effort we put into being transparent and accommodating throughout your interaction with us. While we understand you made a long trip, it's important to recognize that this was entirely your choice. You had many local options, yet chose us—likely because the vehicle you inquired about was priced more competitively than similar models in your area, including those in Montana. Regarding the windshield, it was clearly disclosed over the phone that it had a crack and was scheduled to be repaired. Since you were traveling a long distance, we offered to credit the amount of the repair to the vehicle’s price—something we didn’t have to do, but did as a courtesy. As for the CarFax confusion, it was explained up front that we use AutoCheck, not CarFax. We never provided a CarFax report, nor claimed to. These third-party reporting tools are outside of our control, and we do our best to provide the information we have available. It’s also worth clarifying that we are not obligated to include items like a spare tire in a used vehicle. If you were looking for brand-new car standards, a new vehicle dealership would have been more suitable. The most troubling aspect of this situation has been the disrespectful language, including racial remarks, directed at our staff. No one deserves to be treated that way, especially individuals doing their best to assist. We pride ourselves on customer service and professionalism, and your behavior was not aligned with the respectful environment we maintain. We’ve been in business for over 10 years, and this is one of the rare instances where we’ve had to address behavior like this. It’s clear that we are not the right fit for you as a dealership, and honestly, we’re relieved that a sale did not go through. We ask that you refrain from using fake names or accounts to leave false reviews or send messages to our team. Moving forward, we won’t be responding to further communication of this nature. We sincerely wish you the best and hope you find what you're looking for elsewhere. Sincerely, Advantage Auto Sales
