Thomson Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat
Dealership Sales Review
I have purchased 4 vehicles from Thomson Motor Centre and this will indeed be my last. Let me be clear that I am aware that I signed the paperwork, nobody forced me, and I drove the vehicle off the lot...and had buyers remorse before I hit the interstate. I went in for an oil change with my 2016 Dodge Challenger Shaker - my dream car that was fully loaded with every bell and whistle. She was AMAZING. I will never forget that night I got her...Thomson Motor Centre treated me very respectfully worked with me the absolute best they could financially. When we were done...I was proud to drive that car off the lot. I got MANY compliments over the time I had it. I would always say thank you and always let people know where I got it and share my outstanding experience. I believe in keeping hometown business, well...home. I kept the car in great shape however it was time for new tires and my warranty had expired by about 4,000 miles which made me a tad nervous. My daughter had said she would put new tires on for me and I had already priced them (about $1,000.00). April 28, 2018 I took my baby in for an oil change and went right to the waiting room. I got bored and decided to walk the lot. Strolled by the Jeeps, wandered by the trucks and then there I went...like a magnet - to the Challengers. I was just looking, afterall, I didn't need one. I had a perfectly good one inside...but that darn warranty was up. Tommie Mack was the first Sales Consultant through the door that Saturday. Awesome gentleman. He is kind, professional and very easy to like. One of the 2018 Challenger's had caught my eye (of course - it had a warranty) so I requested Tommie run some numbers. He returned and let me know that for (now keep in mind I have thrown this scratch paper away) $2,700 down and an increase in my car pymt of between $70 - $130 it would indeed be possible for me to trade in my old car and get this new one. Yes, I was indeed upside down and that right there was my sign! For once I was smart enough to politely say "no" ...I will not over-extend myself and I cannot put any money down. I must leave now. I was almost out the door when Mr. Mack said to hold on...they wanted to run numbers again to see if we could work something out. Bam...hecomes back and say's no down payment and my car payment increases by $11.00 and I will have a car with new tires and it will have a full warranty "because everyone knows that when your warranty goes out things start going wrong". Right then, that very moment, I made one of the worst decisions of my life. I was alone that day...I have always had someone with me. Had I had someone with me they would have given me the best advice ever. Shari...just purchase a warranty. You are about to sign a binding contract that will have you paying thousands more at anrate increase of 1.60% interest even though your credit score is the same, if not higher, than when you purchased your 2016 (Terry Wilson did me wrong on this one) and the car you are buying is a base model. It does not have anything (no bells, no whistles) that your previous vehicle did. Yes...after they came to a price I could afford - I did test drive it - basically to make sure it ran. Everything was happening so fast at this point I was a little overwhelmed. I was more concerned about having a warranty than anything else. I even purchased an extended warranty on the car. I drive alot...I spend alot of time in my car. I have been absolutely miserable in this vehicle and I did it to myself. But, I do know this. I did return to the dealership on Fri. May 18th. I dislike this vehicle so much that it took and everyone is so tired of hearing me complain about it they basically said I had to go. I am not a "speak-up" kind of person and I do not like confrontation. I had tears in my eyes - not for pity, but because I am so angry and I hate what I am driving. I looked at Tommie and he knew exactly why I was standing there. I told him...I would like my 2016 car back. I knew, too, the second I drove the 2018 off the lot it depreciated. I know the hardest thing to do at a dealership is to try to get back a car simply because you don't like what you are in. But, I had to try. Tommie wrote down my information again, walked over to General Sales Manager Ronnie Sterling, and about 7 min. later Tommie returned and said "for $10,000.00 down we can put you back in your 2016 Challenger". He said I have to realize that I am in a new one and it just really can't be done. I left the dealership that evening. Yep, still had the tears. Yep, still hate this car every time I walk towards it. It isn't the cars fault. I take full responsibility. I made a totally rash and impulsive decision one morning - simply going to get an oil change. They honestly had no business selling me a new car, although that is their business. I am now driving a model that is so basic it is disgusting. Then it dawned on me...when I returned on that Fri. May 18th...not once was I ever asked or approached with....Shari - let's see if there are any options that we can do to make you a happy and satisfied customer. People will compliment this car, I will thank them, and where I used to share my good experience with this dealership - I will now share how I feel they could have done things much differently to this customer.
