A Shocking Display of Dishonesty and Disrespect — Buyer Beware
Written by Al on 04/30/2025

I want to warn others about my experience with Lexus of Oxnard’s sales department, which involved a written offer from the General Manager that was later ignored, followed by deception, rudeness, and complete lack of accountability. This is not how any dealership — let alone a Lexus dealer — should treat people. On Sunday, April 13, 2025, I contacted Lexus of Oxnard regarding a 2024 Lexus LS (VIN: JTHGYLGF9R5002881, Stock: 5002881S). I was first contacted by Corey Mamutse, who said he could not negotiate pricing. I was later connected to Mike Reyes, the General Sales Manager. I submitted several offers via email and finally received a written acceptance from Josef Langhans, the General Manager, at 5:28 AM on April 16. He congratulated me and copied several staff members — Moe Eddik, Angelo Reyes, Ayoub Lawrance, and Santiago Ma Lualhati Sig. Later that morning, I confirmed my intent to purchase the vehicle and asked how to proceed. Mike Reyes said he was off that day, but that Moe or Marilou would assist me. I called Moe to ask if I could send a deposit or begin paperwork remotely before driving over two hours from out of town. He refused, claiming the dealership doesn’t accept deposits or allow remote purchases. Despite this, I later learned that they did sell the car remotely — to someone else — even as I was driving in. Moe called just before I arrived to tell me the car had been sold. Other staff confirmed the buyer was not in person and the car was being delivered. This was not a mistake — it was a deliberate and misleading act that caused me to waste an entire day, rearrange my professional schedule, and be blindsided at the last minute. When I called Moe and Marilou to express my frustration, they were dismissive and sarcastic, and literally told me to “go leave a one-star review” if I was upset. There was no apology — only mockery. I contacted GM Josef Langhans again that evening. He replied that he was on vacation and would respond the following week. He didn’t. After multiple polite follow-ups were ignored, I sent a strongly worded email on April 28, demanding accountability. On April 29, he finally replied — not with an apology, but with accusations, claiming I had “harassed” employees (completely false) and telling me to stop contacting the dealership. Let me be clear: I remained professional and respectful in all communications. I have the email chain and call logs. All I ever did was follow up on a deal I had in writing. To make matters worse, the car’s price mysteriously dropped by $3,000 the very morning GM Langhans accepted my offer, suggesting they were setting it up for another buyer. This was never disclosed to me. In summary: - The General Manager made a written deal and then ignored it - The sales staff misled me and blocked me from purchasing - The car was sold remotely, even though I was told that wasn’t possible - I was mocked and falsely accused when I pushed for a resolution - There was zero professionalism or accountability I have never been treated with such blatant disrespect by any business, much less a luxury car dealership. Lexus of Oxnard failed at every level — communication, ethics, and customer care. I did not end up purchasing a vehicle, and I strongly caution others considering doing business with this dealership. Proceed at your own risk.
