Dealership Sales Review
I want to give it a 4.5 due to a minor detail that was missed but since that is not an option I will go with a 4. I dealt with Harvey as my salesperson, and among salespeople, he was among the best (and I have dealt with a few). Charismatic, non-pushy and the best part of all is that he listened instead of talking about pushing a sale. His approach was very conversional, which was well received. He set up my deal with his sales manager with little haggle and I walked away with what I thought was a good deal. During the 4 hour process that I was there, he sold at least 2 cars plus he had a few other clients coming in to deal directly with him which speaks to his salesperson skills. I had done my homework and the process was very smooth. At financing, however, I have not done my homework as through fully as I should have (Shame on me), and therefore the process was not as smooth. Although their finance manager Takeo O. was a very nice individual, his approach to sell us the extras was a bit like buy now or forever hold your peace. Among the extras were the mop and glow, the extended toyotacare and the extended warranty. Although I was on the market for those extras, I preferred to walk away and look elsewhere for a less expensive product. Because, Toyota is trying to maximize their profit margin, the extended warranty and Mop and Glow was presented as a package deal and was never presented as individual items. Having said that, Takeo was kind enough to let us walk away and gave us a chance to call him back at the end of the day with an offer to any of the products he was offering. I left a message with an offer to one of those products but my phone call was never returned. So my opportunity to continue to do additional business with AutoNation Toyota stopped there. I removed one half a star( or in this case, a full star), not because of the Finance manager approach, but rather because of Autonation Toyota approach to try to obtain such a high profit margin on the extra products they sell. If the values of these products were priced more competitive, they would see an incline in their sales volume and they will start seeing more 5 stars from other customers as well.
