Dealership Sales Review
My sales person was more than adequate. Being a serious "Car Guy" I am by no means uninformed when I go to seriously shop for a car. I typically know more about the car then the sales person. My problem came in when we got to F&I. We decided to be a first-time leaser for my '07 Nissan Sentra 2.0 S. We were there very late (11pm or so) and got all the papers signed and done or so we thought. The next day I got a call that said that "There was a problem with the paperwork, and I would have to resign new papers." Red flags were immediately raised to say the least. We arrived at the dealer that night and were told that they "had" to go with a different leasing company than originally though and, oh yeah my payment was going up $30 month. I was expect something like this, so I had before arriving told my wife to get her keys handy so we could put them on the desk and walk. Needless to say my refusal to just accept a new contract and pay more than I had originally agreed and signed a contract for sent them scattering trying to "fix it". The F&I manager came in and said actually said to me "it's only $30". My response was less than enthusiastic regarding his indifference. After several trips to the back room by the F&I manager, they got within a couple of dollars of the payment I had the night before, but I also was resolute on the absolutely required inslusion of GAP insurance. Again something not included the night prior. I really like the car, but I can only wonder about whether this lease was the right thing for me to do. I only did it because I don't drive very far per year, maybe 9,000/year with my last car.
