Yes, happened to me. The tow guy should of put it in neutral. He caused the pin to break and it fell into the trasnfer case. Donot drive as it will eventually it will get caught between the gear and chain and break the case. Then you will have to replace the transfer case. thats what happended to me.
2WD/4WD SWITCH STAYS IN "N" AND DOESN'T WANT TO ENGAGE. It was towed away from the road on two wheels, would this have anything to do with the problem and how to resolve it. It worked before being towed Thank you
I have a 2004 xl-7 that I bought new. I like the vehicle very much- but the Alternator has some issues. It was changed in 2006, because it was faulty- thankfully, it was still under warranty. However, yesterday, it died again, but not until it killed a 2 yr old battery.Of course, this time there's no warrany. Suzuki corp. won't stand behind this oddity- it is unusual to replace 1 alternator...never ... Read More

We bought a 2007 XL7 two weeks ago. The second day we had the car the battery was dead. Had it replaced and then the charging system was not reading over 12.3 volts while running. Replaced the alternator but the car still ranges from 12.3 to 14.2 volts while running or idling. Last Saturday the front control stopped working. Could not change the radio, a/c or any other centrally located controls. ... Read More
I have an '04 XL7 EX I bought new in Aug 2004. Everything going well until this summer. First, OEM Bridgestone tires were almost completely shot after 23,000 miles, just replaced with a new set of Uniroyal Tiger Paws with 80,000 warranty. Last week, I couldn't start the car (due to dead battery). Battery replaced in 23 months (24 month OEM warranty) no $$ help from Suzuki. Now I checked the ... Read More
I have a 2004 XL-7. Like you my 4x4 will not disengage unless I reverse the vehicle or make a sharp right or left hand turn after disengaging the 4x4. I'm being told it has something to do with the turning radius of the car and tyres as they are worn down. My dealership and Suzuki are still looking into it. I have not noticed any correlation to cold temperatures. Did ... Read More
Hi Everyone, Does anyone know if they sell a clutch fan for a 2004 Suzuki Grand Vitara XL-7?
Hi everyone, Does anyone know if we can upgrade the stock subwoofer under the seat? If so, how much amps do it put out or do I have to upgrade it with an amplifier also? Also, are there any good Suzuki sites for accessories, performance parts, off-road parts, etc?
Hi everyone...! I love my 2004 Suzuki XL-7 and it runs like a champ. But I only bought the 2WD version because you can only use the 4WD off road only. This is my only complaint about it. Does anyone know why they couldn't make it driveable on pavement also? Is there an advantage to having a 4WD that only works off road?
Hey everybody, New member here. I have a 2004 Suzuki XL-7 which I love and spent alot of time in. I have a Aftermarket head unit that I want to install that was in my 99 Grand Vitara. But everywhere I look I can't find a installtion kit. Does anybody have an idea where I can find such a beast if it exists?
This is not so much a question but a story about a small market share company (Suzuki)who acted like a major player. My wife and I purchased a 2002 Suzuki XL-7 in Nov. 2002. This past June, it went in for the 50,000km service. two days after, the motor developed a knock. We took it in to the dealer and the mechanic said he had only heard that noise once before. ... I recently received an e-mail from a representative at Suzuki. Enclosed was a word document of the 2005 lineup. XL-7: Get Into a Family Adventure A stylish, midsize SUV with the following major standard equipment: 2.7-Liter, 185-horsepower V6 engine; air conditioning with automatic climate control and micron air-filtration; five-speed automatic transmission (models with automatic transmission); 16-inch aluminum alloy wheels; power windows, locks and heated mirrors; AM/FM in-dash CD player with seven ... Anyone have a clue who sells Suzuki's extended warranty on the XL-7 at the best price? I was surprised when I ran a search on this site that nothing came up -- and I did a total site search as well. When I ran a search on my other vehicle, a Honda Odyssey, I had full listings of dealerships, names, phone numbers, prices, etc. It was a real help. Since this ... Read More
Just recently picked up my first Suzuki. The 2003 XL-7 we bought is just great. I was chatting with a guy in the shop about the 2004 vs 2003. One thing he indicated about the 2004 is that the electronic switch from 2WD to 4WD was a little touchy. The manual stick shift on 2003 and earlier models had no problem shifting from 2WD to 4WD. The electronic shift on some ... Read More
