The best I've been able to come up with is that if the engine light is blinking, it means that the computer thinks something is going on that might damage your car. So, sure, no reason why that couldn't be multiple codes.
It's obvious from the bit of research I have done that, as you said, blinking seems to indicate a misfire. I was going on information from the manual for my Mazda Millenia (no longer own it) that stated if another problem occurs while the MIL light is already on due to an error code, the MIL light could start blinking, to indicate additional error code(s). Never mind.
That's interesting. Do you have any further info on that or a link? I've never heard of multiple codes setting off a blinking light but if that's a built in feature for OBD-II, I'd like to know more about it.
You are right as well, Mr. host. A misfiring will cause a blinking light. But so will multiple error codes. The thing is, you don't know which is which. You just know that you have more than a simple error code going on (e.g., a failing oxygen sensor or a loose gas cap). Thus, it is made to blink to tell the driver to get the situation checked out ASAP.
True a blinking light doesn't mean "pull over" but I like to advise people to treat a blinking light a lot more seriously than a steady light--the catalytic converter can be damaged in case of misfire because raw fuel is being dumped into it. I haven't heard of multiple codes setting off a blinking light, so I don't know about that. Blinking light is definitely a misfire--this is standard on all ... Read More
A blinking check engine light does not necessarily mean that you must not drive the car. The light will usually blink if you have more than one error code going. You need to get to Autozone or some place that can give you a readout of your error codes, and then you will know more. And some mechanics are better than others. Do a google search and see who gets good ... Read More
A blinking engine light is an emergency signal. You shouldn't be driving the car. It sounds like you might have a clogged catalytic converter.
I recently started having a problem with my 04 forenza. My check engine light is blinking, which I didn't know could happen, and my car feels like it is low on power until it warms up, especially when it is shifting between first and second gear. It jerks and is idling rough. I am wary on taking it to a mechanic as they have been wrong and screwed me out of ... Read More

I have a 2004 Forenza, it has been a gem until it hit 60k, I had the steering light explanation mark issue for two years, took it to CarX in Illinois and also Midas in AZ. No one could figure out the problem. I take my car in every three months for an oil change and am a little fanatical about my cars (and I am female!) At 60k, had a ... Read More

My daughter is having the same problem but the dealer wants all records of maintenance in order to honor the warranty. Did your dealer request all records from you to have this done? We don't have the records because the dealer that we went to went out of business because the goverment was after him and he would not transfer the records over. How did yours turn out?

I'm going through a big problem with my 2004 Suzuki Forenza. The check engine light came on and the dealer told me there was an issue with the cylinder head. The good news is that although it is a very expensive piece that costs over $2,000, my 7 year power train warranty covers this part. I took the car to the dealer last Saturday and it's been there all week. The ... Read More

Wait until you get about 60000 and see if suzuki care. I have a 2004 Forenza and never really had any problems with it. But when I did, suzuki would not live up to the warranty. My car became disabled as I was driving down the interstate. I had it towed to a Suzuki Dealership. I was told that there was sludge in the engine and therefore the drivetrain warranty would ... I purchased a 2004 Forenza for my daughter back in February. Thank God there have been no major problems. However, last week my daughter was complaining that her headlights were not working. Hi all, I am little confused where to post this one, hope I will find a suggestion here. I am considering buying a used Chevrolet Optra (as it is called in middle east, and Suzuki Forenza in USA) from my friend. I have a 2004 Suzuki Forenza. The engine light is on and I've already opened and closed the gas cap. I have not put gas recently and only have a quarter tank left so could it still be the gas cap? I went to see the NY Auto Show the other day. There was an Aerio SX displayed there, but I don't remember seeing an Aerio sedan. The SX was displayed practically out of sight, behind a huge column, and all the way on the edge of Suzuki's display area. There was practically no visitor traffic around it. Suzuki's new cars, on the other hand, were displayed right in the middle of ... Read More
Hi all, I live in southern California about 25 miles from Brea where Suzuki's US Headquarters is located. I decided to take a drive there and look around.
