Overview

The Phantom is Rolls-Royce's most expensive and most exclusive model. The high-end luxury brand offers this mega sedan as part of a lavish lineup that includes the Ghost sedan, the Spectre electric coupe and the Cullinan SUV. The Phantom, which is also offered in a long-wheelbase Extended model, is the ultimate luxury machine built exclusively for the world's wealthiest. Some vehicles come close, but nothing can beat the Phantom's opulence, craftsmanship, comfort and almost endless customization options. It's also one of the few vehicles still powered by a V12 engine and boasts rare reverse-hinged doors, or "coach doors" in Rolls-Royce lingo.
Edmunds spotlight: The king of customization
Beyond a vastly wide selection of exterior and interior color combinations, the Phantom offers a variety of wheels, hand-painted coachlines, and umbrella colors to choose from. The Phantom also lays out a wide selection of features like the Spirit of Ecstasy hood emblem, the dashboard (or Gallery) design, veneers (or wood trim), key fob colors, door panel materials, and interior stitching, piping, monograms and embossments. A few doorsill plates, clocks and rear seat configurations are also offered for your consideration. Once all that is figured out, an array of options include the popular Shooting Star headliner, a rear refrigerated compartment, rear seat elevated footrests, backseat "picnic tables," rear entertainment screens, rear curtains and lambswool floor mats.
Competitors to consider
Although the Phantom is in a league of its own, there are a couple of competitors to consider if you don't have the financial wherewithal for the Rolls. The Bentley Flying Spur sedan should be your first thought. It's sumptuous and highly customizable, but it's much more affordable. The Bentley was just redesigned for 2025 and is now powered by a robust plug-in hybrid powertrain instead of a 12-cylinder engine. The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is another lower-priced alternative that's loaded with tech and luxury but looks much like a regular S-Class. The slightly more affordable Ghost and Cullinan should also be on your list to look at.
