2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA250: Carpool Savvy Nav

When our long-term 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA250 sedan's navigation system suggested that I enter the carpool lane, I was surprised. Granted it did so with a warning about knowing whether or not I met the current local restrictions, but still. It was the first time I've ever heard a nav specifically direct me to the carpool lane.

Tell me, what other navs offer this advice?

I know that the Garmin model I have will. It may require being set to quickest or shortest route, and I think it can be configured to not do, as with ferries or highways.

  • Was there someone in the passenger seat? I wonder if it senses their weight and knows to make that recommendation. If not, it should!

I have an 09 Benz that won't do that. However, when I enter carpool only freeway entrances, it does warn me saying something like "restricted road access " etc. which is kind of nice. Also, it will warn about bridge tolls as you approach. My other car (a lexus) does not do either

  • the Chrysler 300 kept sending me into the toll lanes until I went into the settings and told it not to do that.
