What We Know
The 2009 Ford Fusion Hybrid is expected to go on sale in mid-2008. It will most likely use the same drivetrain as the current Ford Escape Hybrid. That setup combines a 2.3-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with a 70kW electric motor that can power the vehicle on its own at low speeds. Prototypes spotted during hot weather testing showed no signs of a revised design on the outside, so the Ford Fusion Hybrid will look much like the standard model.
What Edmunds.com says
More advanced than the Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid and better looking than the Prius, the 2009 Ford Fusion Hybrid should sell well if gas prices continue to climb into 2008.
