Cadillac STS/STS-V Prices Paid and Buying Experience

  • My 2009 STS saga

Gee, nothing here for over 2 years. Wow I guess STS buyers are too busy for this forum (or too rich to care). Well, I'm neither, and I have liked the STS ever since it went to RWD in 2004. But the price scared the bejezzus out of me, especially the NorthStar V8 equipped ones ($56,000 MSRP with no options!). After all I couldn't very well get an STS with the ... Read More

Cadillac has quietly stalled its plans to build a 12-cylinder flagship sedan and continues to wrestle with details and timing on a proposed rear-wheel-drive replacement for the STS and DTS sedans. Inside Line has learned that the XLS sedan and its V12 engine, neither of which was ever officially approved for production, have been put on the shelf while Cadillac planners focus on developing a single high-end model to replace both ... In order to cut cost, General Motors will merge the rear-wheel drive Zeta and Sigma platforms, a new report finds. According to Motor Trend, the first car to bow on the merged platform will be the 2011 Cadillac STS/DTS replacement. Following that car's ... Read More

The year 1950 was the high point in the Cadillac brand’s post-World War II exports to Australia, when five cars were sold, including one to then-Prime Minister Robert Menzies. For the next 40 years, Cadillacs came to symbolize American culture. The spectacularly vulgar be-finned barges of the 1950s and 1960s epitomized the country’s prosperity, captured in the 1956 Judy Holiday hit movie “The Solid Gold Cadillac.” Yet, the cars rarely left ... I think Cadillac will just use the 6.2L from the Corvette or even the proposed 6.2L OHC engine debuting in 2011 for its high performance models. With the DTS dying in a few years, there just won't be enough volume for Cadillac to have its own V8. The primary engine for the DTS/STS replacement will probably be the 3.6L DI V6.
