Dealership Sales Review

2 out of 5 starssales Rating
Started well and frizzled early
Written by sbramhall71 on 12/04/2013
Started great and frizzled at the finish line is the theme of my experience buying a used car. from Lee Johnson. I did not name the sales rep because he I felt did his best and wasn't the problem. It was the management above him that called the shots. I came into the lot to look at a specific used car that I found on http://cars.com and drove the 40 minutes from Federal Way to because I was pretty interested. I was promptly greeted by a salesmen that greeted me kindly and directed me to the car. I was pretty familiar with the car features, but wasn't sure how well I'd fit (I need extra headroom). He offered to let me test drive it and recommend that I take my family and to take my time and get a real feel for the vehicle and didn't ask to come which I appreciated. After the test drive I sat down with him and we had a friendly chat and I told him where I was at and that I wanted to go look at some other cars but I did have an offer in mind. I drive away and at this time was very impressed with the dealership. Their car selection is high quality and I didn't see any junk on the lot. I go look at a couple other cars and wasn't impressed and so I came back to buy the Accord if I can get a slightly better price. All is well still. My bank was closing but I was per-qualifed and after I found the car I double checked and called again just to confirm wit the bank. They told me they saw no problem approving me for the loan and recommended I use the CUDL system. I call my sales guy in the evening and said it's a deal. He was off by then so I said I'd come back the next day after church and we'd process the deal. Before I leave I confirm that I can drive the car home if I do the CUDL system so I get my brother to go with me to drive my other car home and we show up at the dealer. I filled out the paperwork expecting to drive my car home..this is when things got inconvenient and went south and my happiness went to a 0. The dealer wasn't familiar with my bank and said they didn't get a decision so they wouldn't let me drive home my car. I stated it's Sunday of course their isn't anyone there. They still refused stating it was policy. I said that's very frustrating I confirmed prior and now have wasted my brothers afternoon and asked if they would deliver the car to me at my work so I wouldn't have to make another trip. They refused stating policy once again. I asked for a 24 hour test drive since I know that's common for people to take a car home over night and sleep on it. They also refused stating they cannot do that for insurance reasons... I lefted Sunday 2 hrs later after signing the paperwork and putting down a $1000 deposit to reserve the car...but wasn't allowed to take it home still.. They were not upfront with me on their reasoning and did not try to make this buying process easier and did nothing for me. They never offered me a single solution or even something in the middle. They made me feel like a 2nd class customer that was not respected. In closing I wanted to like this dealership but in all of my car buying it was the worst service I've had ever in all of my car buying/selling experience which is pretty extensive since I buy a car every 6 months on average for myself or a friend/family member.
