Why make an appt?

onI had an appt at 10:30am on Aug 4th. I dropped my jeep off early at 7:30 so i could go to work. At 2:30 I called and they had yet to look at my vehicle. I was told a manager would call me but that never happened. I arrived at the dealership at 4:30pm to find out the status of my car. They had still not looked at it and was told they had been really busy and if i wanted to wait they may be able to have it ready in an hour. I did not have much choice, I needed my vehicle for a trip the next day. While I appreciate them getting me on the road, I feel the service was not up to par. I had an appt at 10:30am and they had not looked at my car until 6 hours later. And that is only because I showed up to ask about it. There seems do be a problem with time management and communication.
