Do Not Buy a Used Car

We purchased a used car on June 30 for our 16 yr old daughter, and after we picked up the car the following day, the check engine light came on indicating the car needed the catalytic converter replaced. We specifically asked our salesman, David McCubbins, during the buying process if the car needed any additional work done and we were advised it did not. Unfortunately, after reading prior reviews on multiple sites, it sounds like this is not uncommon for this dealership. In fact, the dealership where we took the car to be looked at shared the same thoughts about Tom Wood Volkswagen. We reached out to David and the GM, Mike Pilkington, who would not even assist in getting us in to the service department expeditiously to have the car looked at. Tom Wood Volkswagen clearly takes no pride in the used cars they sell. We will never give Tom Wood Group our business again and will urge all to avoid them as well.

Mike - Your response to us after seeing our review was to text that you were "confused" as you hadn't heard back from us after you referred us to a Kia dealership as the solution to our issue. We reached out to a Kia dealership and were told it would be August until they could schedule the car for service. Considering the car was essentially undrivable hours after we drove it off your lot due to the check engine light coming on, that time frame was unacceptable which is why we had hoped, AT A MINIMUM, you would arrange for the car to be looked at in your service department. We look forward to hearing from you directly as to what additional help you are willing to provide.
