Truth is Simple, but No One Here is Familiar with it
Written by Deceived Georgia Car Buyer on 12/22/2021
It's a rather simple concept, the truth, but no one at Carl Black is familiar with being honest, honoring their word or anything related to the truth. First, Sharon Hampton lied up front by stating they don't markup vehicles, as many dealers are these days, but hey at least those dealers are gouging consumers directly, without any spin, lies or manipulation to cover up the markup. That's what Carl Black does best in the form of multiple unnecessary fees and offering incentives that suddenly, as if David Copperfield were involved, magically disappear! They required I pay for the vehicle, sign all of the documents before I ever saw the Yukon otherwise they said they would sell it to someone else. Fantastic, right? But we must trust people, to some degree, in this delightful COVID world we are living in... just don't trust anyone at Carl Black. To make this process even more cumbersome for me, they don't offer any virtual experiences even in COVID affected times so I was forced to drive hours to meet the sales rep and sign the docs in a cold and windy parking lot. These people clearly aren't familiar with not just the truth, but any kind of customer service is a foreign concept as well. What business doesn't offer virtual services after nearly 2 years of COVID in our lives? I've purchased other cars in the past 2 years and was offered a seamless, completely virtual experience by the dealership that then brought the car to my house so I never had to leave the comfort and safety of my home. Carl Black clearly doesn't believe in service to a customer in any way, at any time except on their own terms, how they define it, how, where and when they want it... which is the opposite of serving the customer. But wait... there's MORE! Then comes the bait and switch. They had provided two proposals, one for financing and the other for cash purchase, both showing an incentive (cash bonus) if I financed through the manufacturer's finance arm yet, when I drove hours to meet the sales rep, William Bird, to sign the docs, this wasn't reflected on the documentation. I asked about it and the sales rep said they didn't recall anything of this sort. So young to be suffering from early on set Alzheimer's. The sales rep told me he would check into this and they would fix it later. Famous last words because his amnesia further took hold over his young mind as I was told this was never offered to me... so I emailed the written proposals to the General Manager, Louis Spaeth, with a question as to what happened? He never replied. Then I emailed the friendly, engaging lady that first spoke to me from the dealership, Sharon Hampton, asking about this discrepancy. She never replied. So then I called and spoke to the Sales Manager, Jon Ziegler who attempted to distract and deflect by mentioning many completely unrelated factors in order to confuse and confound me and ended with that he would look into this. The follow up from the sales manager was that they value my business and wouldn't want anyone to feel misled. Placating me with lies isn't helping anyone. It's a rather simple concept, the truth, but these people are so unfamiliar with it that they make it much more complex all to the detriment of the customer they claim to value and serve. I asked them to honor their word, which they put in writing, but they chose to spin, distract, deflect and lie instead. Save yourself the trouble of dealing with people that don't deserve your time, energy or decency and skip over any dealership with Carl Black on the sign or building. They lie, deceive and spin the facts to the point I don't think they would know truth if it slapped them across the face.
