Dealership Sales Review

Deceitful

I viewed a beautiful Atlas Crossport w/Technology that I came in to purchase. I received an email congratulating me on my Subaru Outback purchase, which has NO relation. However, my experience is less than one star. I was in on September 28th, 2023 at approximately 7:15 p.m. and looked at an Atlas Cross Sport w/Technology and black wheel package that I began to make a deal on with General Manager, Jimmy. I confided in Jimmy by explaining the poor customer service I had experienced with two previous encounters earlier in the month, and Jimmy assured me he would go above and beyond to make sure I had a good experience going forward and how much they would love to earn my business. On Saturday, September 30, 2023, Jimmy messaged me all day long trying to close the deal. I was not able to get to the dealership on Saturday, but had submitted my credit application two days prior and stated I would be in on Sunday, October 1. On Sunday, October 1, Jimmy texted me that all the paperwork was ready, and all I had to do was sign quickly and it would not take long at all. On Sunday, October 1, 2024, I arrived at VW of Fort Myers at approximately 12:10 p.m. with my parents. Joe, the sales person, had no idea about the sale, and no paperwork was prepared ahead of time. He then left his office to state he had to help the detailer finish getting the car ready (which we were also told the day before that it was ready to go!). After 1 hour and 15 minutes of not seeing the sales person, Joe, we started walking around to see if we could at least see the car being worked on. The car was not in sight. Moments later, Joe resurfaced, and stated he "heard" we were looking for him. We explained we wanted to see the car. He directed us to the detail area and showed a worker that was engaged with the vehicle. Per Joe, the vehicle had plastic melted on it due to Florida heat on the truck, and they were attempting to remove it. When I asked why this was not done ahead of time as I was told the car was ready, he stated that all of the car was done the day before, but when the dealership closed, they didn't have time, so they left the hood for Sunday's workers. Joe complained about being tired because he had to help the detailer. And so we waited some more... after two hours, Joe resurfaced and said we were next in line for the financing manager. Again, we were told all we had to do was walk in and sign papers, which was not true. Albeit, we continued to wait, and then were taken to the Finance Manager's office, Dean Williams. The agreement was that my dad was co-signing, but when the paperwork was given, we were told the only way it would work out would be with my dad as the owner and myself as the co-signer. We decided this would be ok, although uneasy that this was never part of the initial agreement. I called and purchased new car insurance and insured the vehicle (20 more minutes), and when all paperwork was done, and copies given to me, we walked into the lobby and the car was right outside the front door waiting. Dean Williams, finance manager then stated- "Just to let you know, there are a couple scratches on the hood, so we are going to have you come back in tomorrow and we will buff it and paint it." WHAT? A BRAND new car with scratches that you tried to sell us? Immediately my father said to cancel the deal. We were not going to walk away with a $45,000 dollar car with damages. Brantley, Sales Manager said he was unaware of the scratches until the vehicle was pulled to the front 5 minutes prior. He then left the building. Joe, sales person, came in and I questioned how he could allow this and not tell me? I asked how long everyone knew and he said they all knew about two hours ago which is why the deal was taking so long. When Brantley returned and I asked him about the discrepancy and dishonesty, he ignored my questions and just sat at his computer as if I was not there. I looked at all three and asked if anyone had anything to say. They were all silent. UNBELIEVABLE.
