Buyer Beware
Written by 02/09/2008
onI bought a new 2006 corvette from Freeway Chevrolet so when I started thinking about a fuel efficient car for commuting to work I naturally went to Freeway. My salesman Mark was super, so why not go back! I purchased a used 2004 chevy Aveo with 67,000 some miles on it and did something I have never done before in that I bought a 24 month, 24,000 mile drive train warranty. Having come from Wisconsin where everyone knew everyone the car buying process was usually one of trust but I thought $950.00 was cheap insurance for a vehicle I knew nothing about and a dealer I knew very little more about. A long story short, with about 71,000 miles on it the timing belt went taking out the engine. The warranty company paid part and the last message from them was they would not cover my loss because the engine problem was a lack of maintenance from the previous owner and I
needed to go to Freeway to have the problem fixed. Freeway declined to do anything and as of over two weeks ago has yet to even reimbuse my warranty premium. What is really obvious is that Freeway never really seviced the car as I had to pay for two transmission flushes to get clean fluid.
I would think that a fimily that started in the auto business in 1966 would want to provide better service to their customers. All I can warn you about is not to buy from the Chapman group, at least a used vehicle. I will be posting a service blog about how they tried to rip me off on my Silverado!
