Fraud- Please Beware
Written by 02/21/2017
onThey falsely advertised and verbally claimed a vehicle was certified pre-owned. I only found out from Patrick Hyundai of Schaumburg that my one year old vehicle had major repairs done and was not certified with corporate.
The dealership refused to give us our money back, which is the least they could do. Instead, they fraudulently certified the vehicle while I was the owner... Without inspection (because it wasn't certifiable) and without my permission.
The managing dealership in Chicago helped straighten things out only after filing a report with the Attorney Generals office. Even then it took months and multiple tried for them to find a comparable car after they attempted to show me lower level models of the original vehicle.
Be careful, these people lie through their teeth and will take advantage of every single person walking through their door- I saw it every time I had to go back. There are no legal protections for used cars, avoid this place like the plague if you can. The managers, signing employee, and salesman Tom Olsen (especially) all were a part of this. Tom is also sexist and told me to "play the woman card" by going to another dealership to find out what was wrong with the car... Yes... The "woman card" by asking me to blatantly lie to someone else when him and I both knew what was needing to be addressed with the car.
Make sure you get everything in writing and get a copy of the corporate VIN record. Lastly, don't believe them when you have to pay the $200-300 VIN etching fee. You did not choose this, they did, and you are not legally required to pay it. Good luck, folks!
