2013 Scion FR-S: Wind It Out

January 21, 2013

2013 Scion FR-S

The Scion's Multi-Information Display shows only a handful of parameters, including outside temperature, current fuel consumption, average fuel consumption and the engine speed at which the rev indicator turns on, complete with buzzing alert (this is in addition to the regular odometer and trip meter that also share the screen space). You can customize the alert to display/sound between 2,000 and 7,400 rpm.

Whether by default or someone on staff changed it, it shouldn't surprise you where ours is set.

This is where the shift indicator should be set for a racing vehicle. Who wants a light and a buzzer constantly sounding as they're touring around their local track? And for street use, who wants a shift indicator at single rpm regardless of engine load or gear? No, there is no reason for this ever to be set lower than 7400.

Wow - you guys are really awesome and super balls-to-the-wall - I guess that's the implication here?

There should be an alert pushed to Toyota any time the indicator is set to 2000 RPM, so they can relieve the unworthy owner of the vehicle and reallocate it to someone who understands it.
