Honda S2000 vs Saturn Sky/Pontiac Solstice

  • S2000 Pricing update

Written by: burghcarguy on Oct 14, 2011 1:34:26 PM

As of today, a 2007 S2000 is worth $2,500 more than a Saturn RedLine and $4,000 more than a Pontiac Solstice GXP. Car-and-Driver also did a comparison of a used S2000 to a new Miata and called the S2000 the only roadster to "out-fun" the Miata. They also called the S the "superbike of roadsters." Case closed. S2000 wins. The most fun you can have in a car with your clothes ... Read More

IN REPLY TO "disappointed07" I have owned over 30 new cars since I was 22--I am now 62. Have own many brands, mostly GM. Yes, I have owned a few crappy GMs, but also some crappy Fords, Chryslers, Dodges, Jeeps, AND some recent crappy Nissans (Sentra '08), Toyotas (Camry '01) and Hondas (Civic '06). My experience with Pontiacs has been very good (Firebird '96, Firehawk '02 and Solstice '09). I would ... Read More

Introduction The Pontiac Solstice gained popularity after the 2007 blockbuster hit Transformers, where the Pontiac Solstice was the autobot form of Jazz. The sleek little sports car is as quick as it looks. So if your debating buying a car from this class I would recommend taking a look at the latest American design in the group. This report is intended to compare the Pontiac Solstice with its nearest competitors in ... Read More

you can probably come down some on the Solstice.......is it from a Pontiac dealer....the 07 has a 5/100k on the drive train..but I dont know if its transferable between owners....$5k on your mustang.....7 years old and 91K sounds reasonable as well.....check KBB for trade in value..... you can get a better deal searching for the GMPP extended warranty plan on line vs your dealer as well if you are interested in ... same issues as before so no surprises, top, cupholders, trunk space.......and to be honest..edmunds has always favored the Miata in all its road tests with barely a bad thing to say about it..... and yes..Pontiac did respond to many of the wants from current solstice owners..so that means GM is listening to the community.......we still love our N/A solstice....and dont find the driving experience like described in the article...several trips to ... • Great Rating

I'm very impressed to see the Solstice do so well in the federal roll over ratings. "NHTSA said it had completed frontal, side-impact and rollover ratings for 63 of 70 vehicles from the 2007 model year. In rollover ratings, three vehicles received the top score of five: the Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky convertibles and the Mazda6 four-door with side air bags"

I'll discuss a second topic that may be of interest. I purchased a 2007 Soltice GXP from Hampton Pontiac in Columbia SC about 6 weeks ago. Just had a very minor fender bender with the car. Ran up a little hard on a curb, and scratched the fender and broke the plastic panel under the engine compartment. After being told by the local body shop that no parts were available to ... I was all set to buy a 2007 Solstice. But when I seen that there was no trunk space with the top down that was the end. My wife and I like to go for drives and stay over night and no trunk means that we can not take a suitcase. End of story. Been a GM person all my life but somethngs come first.

I test drove the '06 today and pre-ordered an '07 from Sewell Pontiac in Dallas for MSRP plus Delivery and no additional dealer fees (we'll see if they try to sneak any in later) and no deposit required until it gets much closer to a build date. I'm pre-order #43 and was told it's 11 to 12 months before it arrives *sigh*. It's going to be a long year. My neighbor ... Read More

I went to my Pontiac dealer and they are sold out of their 2006 allocation of the Solstice but would take a deposit for the 2007 Solstice. Drove the MX-5 and really enjoyed it. Big pluses for the MX-5: 1 - You can get one. 2 - Nice trunk. 3 - You really can operate the roof from inside, but it's easier if you have long arms. 4 - Can get ... Read More

I am not exactly sure when they started building the Miata. I think it was around 1990 and it took them until 2006 to add a rollbar. Give Pontiac a chance. This is the first year for the Solstice. They are already planning a 240hp turbo Solstice for 2007. They will add things and make improvements as the years progress if the car is successful. They already have over 8000 preorders ... Read More
