2014 Mazda CX-5: Tailgate Party

2014 Mazda CX-5

When you're done with a long hike, it's nice to sit down and kick off your boots. The cargo area of the 2014 Mazda CX-5 is just the right height to perch on while you unlace your hiking boots, breathe a sigh of relief and slip into something comfortable.

The liftgate has a sunscreen that provides some nice shade too. Together with the all-wheel-drive powertrain on the CX-5, this makes it a great vehicle to take into the mountains.

Except after you drive it into the mountains, there is all sorts of dirt and dust on the rear bumper, and if you sit on it to take your boots off, then it's on the backs of your pant legs and you're about to put it onto your driver's seat upholstery.

@fordson: A towel is all it takes to fix that, and in the picture the bumper doesn't look all that dirty anyway. For anyone who regularly gets themselves dirty and sweaty, a decent set of seat covers goes a long way. Oh and some good floor mats too.

  • The Honda Element had that setup nailed. But then again so did the 1970 Pontiac Bonneville station wagon (among others)
