I purchased a 2003 H2, right around when the H2 was just released. The car about a year, year and a half ago has been rusting on the entire under carriage of the car. The dealership never wanted to do anything reasonable towards a trade in (for a new one without rust), and the car was out of warranty. Anyone else have this similar problem? I'm thinking about trading it into ... Read More

..........and the division American General is still quite profitable for GM with the H1 military sales Ok, a little clarification required here. American General (AMG) is an independent company and always has been. AMG has always built a variety of vehicles for the military, both large and small, and is probably most well known for manufacturing the HMMWV, often called a Humvee. In 1999 GM bought the 'Hummer' name, together with ... Read More

mac24 you are truely correct. I had the exhaust system changed out a few days ago and the problem is no longer there. I had a broken mount and the baffle inside the muffler had also broken lose. I truely thank you for your time and your response to the problems I was having. By the way, I went with a FlowMaster system that was designed for the Hummer H2, thanks ... Read More

From what you say, it is likely to be the exhaust. The exhaust is flexibly mounted, to allow it to move with the engine as it twists under torque loading and unloading. You could have a soft or broken mount. You could also have a heat shield starting to break it's welds. Finally, you might have an internal baffle that's starting to break away inside the muffler. The first two can ... Read More

I have a 2003 HUMMER H2 and I really don't drive it much...I have right at 37,000 miles on it and just a few weeks ago I notice that I have a rattle coming from the rear under section of my H2...However I only hear the rattle when accelerating and the H2 only does it after it has reached a warm temperture. I think it may be in the exhaust but ... Read More

Let me throw my two cents into the ring. 1. I do not live in the country 2. I do not go off road 3. I am 27 years old 4. I do not care what you think In 2003 I was talked out of buying a Hummer H2 and settled for an Eddie Bauer Expedition. To say that I have been unhappy since is a bit of an understatement. Now ... Boxtrooper, I like your idea about the H3. Current rumor on the H3 set for late 2003 release is that it will be smaller and more efficient; more than likely built on the trailblazer platform. I am kind of skeptical of that platform, but time will tell on how well AM General does with this project. While GM does have a heavy hand in the H2, this vehicle will have the ... Read More
