2013 Cadillac ATS: Keeping It Clean

June 5, 2013

Summer in Los Angeles means blooming Jacaranda trees. Everywhere. And as beautiful as they are, they shed their sticky, purple blossoms as fast as you can sweep them from your driveway.

Lately, I've noticed a few local homeowners have posted, "Park Here at Your Own Risk" signs to their front lawns, indicating the damage that could occur to your car should you pull up to the tree-lined curb.

What's your neighborhood clean-car nemesis?

Once again, people everywhere else in the country think 'That's the danger to your car? Sticky flowers?' Hope you don't have to scrub any off, I'm sure they're a pain, but compared to pea gravel, salt, snow, etc? Yeah, you LA folks are soft :-)

Mine is my 300-yard-long gravel driveway. When it's dry (as it always is during the summer), it's impossible to keep any of my cars clean.

  • My vehicles seem to be target practice for birds at both home and work. But they only seem to bother when they are clean. If they are covered with dust or road grime they don't waste their time.

Bugs!! Its hot and humid where I live, so some summer nights the air is just saturated with bugs, and all of them are attracted by the headlights. The car gets a bath every week, but the windshield and headlights get cleaned literally every other day...

Dust is the only serious thing that gets on my truck during the warm months since given my work schedule sometimes I don't drive my truck for several days.
