2013 Cadillac ATS

The 2013 Cadillac ATS sport sedan was voted North American Car of the Year by a jury of automotive journalists.

It beat out the BMW 3 Series, Chevy Malibu, Dodge Dart, Ford Fusion, Honda Accord, Lincoln MKZ, Nissan Altima, Scion FR-S, Subaru BRZ and Toyota Avalon.

The 2013 Ram 1500 took top honors in the truck category, making 2013 a Detroit sweep. The winners were announced at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show.

I am satisfied with this. It is a big leap for Cadillac, and a significant entirely new offering.

It totally did not deserve the award, especially as it's used the 3-series as a benchmark and is very similar in concept. The CUE system, odd instrument panel and somewhat subpar powertrains don't do it any favour either. I would have voted for either the Ford Fusion or Honda Accord, since both those cars have substantially upped the quality of the midsize sedan market.

  • lets hope it has more success than the 2007 winner... the Saturn Aura :) The ATS looks great, I just wish it hadn't copied one thing from BMW, the huge list of option packages that send the price through the roof. Want a backup camera? That means the $5,000 package.

Weird. On the main page for this article, it has the typo for the "2103 Ram 1500". However, on this comment page, the error is corrected. Still not a fan of this new format.

Is this where I ask why Edmunds dumped InsideLine? What a stupid, stupid idea. Screw you Edmunds. You just lost me for good.

I do not want to buy every car that I read about. Why the annoying pop-up for every car, every time?

"Still not a fan of this new format." "Is this where I ask why Edmunds dumped InsideLine? What a stupid, stupid idea." +to infinity and beyond

Well deserved award. I also agree this new format is very poor. Why couldn`t Insideline stay? Because we now click on "Whats hot" instead of Insideline - I don`t see the benefit to Edmunds or the consumer.

The elimination of InsideLine was voted the Dumbest Automotive IT Development of 2013 by a jury of automotive enthusiasts. It beat out Ford Sync, Apple Maps and the Cadillac CUE system. What would you have voted for?
