On August 5, 2015 my wife and I drove 120 miles roundtrip to Fletcher Scion in Joplin and purchased a 2015 Scion xB. We currently own both a 2012 Scion xB and a 2012 iQ. Our experience in Springfield had not been a good one and we had heard only great things about Fletcher and the Fletcher Pledge so made the drive.
The experience with our salesperson was fine. Problems occurred with the questionable method the finance person presented the contract and extended warranty options. Upon our refusal of the extended warranty options the Fletcher Pledge disappeared.
The following day a conversation with the General Manager was held. He defended the actions of the finance person so I ended the pointless conversation. Upon receiving a follow-up email from him encouraging me to complete the Corporate Survey I emailed him a detailed reminder of our poor experience and conversation. His follow-up email to me was a dismissal in which he revised the content of our conversation and implied I was a liar.
I gathered all information and sent a packet to Frank Fletcher to allow him input. He would not respond so I contacted Corporate for advice. They gave me a complaint number and said I would be contacted.
I received a call from Chris Fletcher who said the GM relayed to him he needed to call. The call was obviously a forced apology. Corporate called me and was surprised all I got was the forced apology. In order to insure I would continue to endorse the Scion brand, Corporate gave me a financial incentive; therefore, I do endorse the Scion brand, but would never recommend Fletcher Toyota.
The above are just the basic facts of our experience. There were many other negative issues involving this transaction but I will not bore the reader with those. Considering all the five star ratings it appears that we must be hard to please. That is not true. It was our intent with the 120 mile drive to have a five star experience, but it simply was not to be. We have never, to this day, been genuinely thanked for the purchase.
