Seniors Beware
Written by 07/22/2009
onA few years ago, my wife's elderly grandparents went to Suncoast Chrysler Jeep to have their Town & Country minivan serviced. They were down visiting from Indiana, here for a few months. While waiting in the service department lobby, a salesman came up to them and started talking about their van and encouraged them to take a look at newer "used" one in the lot. According to my wife's grandmother, the salesman and sales manager were relentless and kept them at the dealership for several hours. She mentioned that my wife's grandfather was feeling sluggish, weak and tired so they offered to take them to a local McDonalds for lunch instead of letting them go home.
As a result of their trip to this dealership for servicing their vehicle, they ended up purchasing another used van that was actually worse than the one they brought in. This newer "used"It ended up needing about an additional $ 3,000.00 worth of engine work.
When it came time to pay for the vehicle and finalize the sale, the sales man couldn't wait for them to come back with their checkbook and actually followed them back to their mobile home to pick up a check for the trade difference! Are you kidding me?
The next day, I reviewed the purchase invoice and was schocked to learn that they overpaid for the vehicle by $10,000.00. I went back the following day thinking that there was some kind of return policy. Well here's what I got, the service manager said they wouldn't take the vehicle back or return the money and with a smug face, stated that he "felt comfortable with the deal".
This dealership took advantage of my wife's grandparents. They wore them down and were relentless in this transaction. Unfortunately my wife's grandparents did not have the stamina or patience to deal with a complaint or lawsuit and dropped the issue. They later traded in that vehicle for another vehicle.
I will never buy a vehicle from Suncoast Chrysler Jeep and would never recommend them to anyone.
