Mercedes-Benz of North Palm Beach

I recently purchased a car @ Mercedes of North Palm Beach. While the initial purchase went smoothly, my experience quickly turned sour soon after. I took delivery on a Monday evening at approx 7:00pm. By the next morning I decided that the interior color would not work as it was pure white and was already showing marks. I called the dealership at opening bell the next morning and asked if it would be possible to trade the car in for a "like car" with a different color interior. I agreed to pay any difference if they found a car with additional options. They agreed to find me a new car. Imagine my amazement when they contacted me to say they had found the car and would be charging $2500.00 for the privilege of changing colors! After speaking with their home office it was reduced to $1500.00. As I really was in a bind I took delivery of the new car (along with a very negative opinion of their dealership) I have since spoken to several car dealers, along with several potential customers who were shocked & appalled that Mercedes of North Palm Beach would charge such a premium when it really cost them nothing to make the transfer. Nothing to have a satisfied customer who would spread the word on how Mercedes had gone above and beyond. But this was not to be. Earl Stewart (a local Toyota dealer) even addressed the matter on his weekend radio talk show. Is the money really worth the negative impression the dealer now has earned? In today's economy can you really afford to treat a customer this way? Word of mouth is as strong as any commercial, was it really worth it to them? I guess so!
