SCAM OR SCAM You be the Judge
Written by 02/24/2013
onFirst, I know that I am very mechanically inclined and take maintaining my toyota serious and
track every detail of maintance or anything that has been done to my car even dates and mileage of last waxed & wiper changes. (OCD? maybe).
So, anyways I took my car in for 1 hr job. The maintenance was finished on schedule. While paying invoice they stated I need a battery $160, serpentine belt$182 and both front lower control arms $1095.
As you should do with any thing, I went and got a second opinion. At this point the battery was 3yrs old w/26,100 miles on it.
Autozone/Alternate Toyota dealership tested battery (tested perfect). with no readings of needing to be replaced.
Serpentine belt was 5yrs old with 47,300 miles on it.
My first belt i changed at 67,500/4yrs old. I give them the benefit of the doubt on the belt, if they even looked at it or if they were just looking at the mileage of my car. Then we get to the $1095
front lower control arms.
I took it to a alternate Toyota dealer they seen no problems with lower control arms and they didn't need to be replaced.
Here is the best part.
I went back Lexington Toyota 5,000 miles /4 1/2 months later for four wheel alignment. They did not mention anything about needing any control arms or the serpentine belt.
The invoice said they also performed a battery test and battery must have passed because they did not tell me i needed a new one.
So you be the judge, but i would not recommend them at all. However the guy in parts has always been amazing, i would recommend the 110%.
