Worst Experience Ever
Written by 12/15/2016
onI have never had such shoddy treatment or experience with a named dealership in my life!
We purchased 2007 Dodge Nitro 10/04 from Annapolis Volvo.
Contacted the dealer on 10/05 with a list of mechanical and electrical concerns. The dealership was informed within 24 hours of purchase of our initial concerns, with almost daily communication about the truck up to the present. Had for 6 days.
We returned it to the dealer on 10/11 with the list of issues.
Our initial List:
Activating the blinker to the right, it catches for a fraction of a second/then drops to a left blinker. Dangerous - driver has to focus on holding the blinker / if it drops to the left it is confusing/potentially dangerous for other drivers. NOT FIXED
Owe us a 4th key for mis-cut key. NOT CORRECTED
Exhaust leak. NOT FIXED
Tail light cracked/condensation/Brake light out. FIXED.
Shifter occasionally stuck in "park" - turned off and on to correct. NOT FIXED
Interior lights go on/off randomly. DEALER JERRY RIG FIXED ON REPAIR ORDER. NOT FIXED PROPERLY
Truck stalled several times. NOT FIXED
Alignment. NOT FIXED
Caliper/brakes. NOT FIXED.
From drive to reverse, shift selector or solenoid issue. Louder when driven. NOT FIXED.
A/C clutch erratic / grinding/bearing noise. NOT FIXED
Left front CV noise turning right/louder in 4WD. NOT FIXED (turns out it was the right one not the left)
Transmission bangs/mount/bottom end knock. NOT FIXED.
We received back from the dealer on 10/17. Had for 4 days.
We returned it to the dealer again on 10/21 with many of the same issues still unresolved.
Nail in brand new rear tire was replaced with different tire. FIXED.
Caliper/brakes. FIXED. (although will need to be redone again due to rust from sitting again).
Engine Codes - U110C, U0141, U1403, U110E. NOT FIXED
We Found:
U110C (lost Fuel Level Message) - it means there's an issue with wiring
U0141 (Lost Communication With Body Control Module "A") - Specifics - https://www.obd-codes.com/u0141
U1403 (implausible Fuel Level Signal Received) - Means - CAN BE OPEN OR SHORTED/CLUSTER MODULE/FRONT CONTROL MODULE/PCM
U110E (lost Ambient Temperature Message) - A/C issue
Dealer found (yet stated no problem found):
U110C (lost Fuel Level Message) - it means there's an issue with wiring
U110E (U110E (lost Ambient Temperature Message) - A/C issue
U1113 (lost A/c Pressure Message)
We received it back from the dealer on 10/28. Had it for 12 more days.
On the morning of 11/09 starter ran 30+ seconds to a minute. Later that same day it completely quit running today, won't start or jump-start. Stuck in "park". Truck died and stuck in park had it towed home.
Dealer refused to do anything at first until 12/01 when they had the truck towed by Volvo to Adams Dodge Annapolis as an independent 3rd party to look at the issues we had pointed out since day 2 plus the fact that the truck is now dead.
On 12/06 we had our first contact from Adams Dodge where Volvo had the car towed to have the issues looked at.
Adams Dodge independently found all of the issues that we had been pointing out since day 2. One of the issues they found, a defective battery, more than likely explains all of the electrical issues the truck has been having since day 2.
Today, 12/14, Volvo has stated, that they would replace the battery, but, anything else, despite emails going all of the way back to 10/05, the day after purchase, is an attempt on our part to make the truck "perfect" and they would not be responsible for that.
So now here we sit and out of 71 days of ownership the Dodge Nitro has been drive-able for 22 non-consecutive days.
We have owned it for 71 days, in dealer's possession 13 days (27 counting its time at Adams Dodge) and totally non-functional for 36 days (of which it has been at Adams Dodge for 14 days now).
