buying a used truck from Firkins
Written by 01/30/2010
onA friend took me into Firkins used car center and introduced me to Royce. We looked at used trucks and I dorve one that was priced at $19,400. when I showed interest in it we went inside and -surprise - the correct price was now $24,000.
We dickered on the trck and finally, after two days, came up with $20,500 for the truck and $587 for the dealer paperwork fee (Even though they weren't doing any paperwork, I was going to take it to my home state) This was repeated over the phone twice between me and the sales manager. Royce then called to get the rest of my information and he had the correct numbers.
I left to overnight a check to the dealership. Two blocks from Pak N Send I get a call from the manager. He has made a "mistake" and the truck is now another thousand dollars.
Did someone else come on the lot and offer more money for the truck? Are these people that damn stupid that they can't do simple arithmetic? Was this some sort of psychological game?
I don't know and I will never find out because I will never darken their doorstep again.

Firkins Automotive Sells used lemons to the public. My daughter purchased a used vehicle from them after being told by "Curtis" the sales rep that the vehicle was in excellent sound mechanical condition with only one previous owner. My daughter didn't even get a weeks use out of the car and when she took it back to them their response was that it was purchased AS IS. I really believe that they knew full well that the car was a lemon when they sold it to her and I would discourage anyone from doing business with this dealership because of their misleading and deceptive practices.
