Good experiences and bad experiences

onThis was my dealer of choice for my 2002 VW GTI and the first 20,000 miles of my 2004 VW GTI ownership. They performed a brake light switch repair under warranty for my 2002 GTI with no issues and also the recall for the same item on my 2004 GTI. 10,000 mile services on both cars were also both fine. However for my 20,000 mile service on my 2004 GTI I asked them to look at a piece of misfitting trim around the exterior of the passenger side mirror...they took it apart and evaluated it and called me to tell me to pick the car up because the part they needed was on backorder for a week and to schedule another appointment to have it fixed. Alright, that's reasonable...I went to the service advisor desk, signed whatever paperwork I needed to, got my keys, and they brought my car around. Came out to find my passenger side mirror assembly strewn in parts around the passenger side footwell! The mirror glass, the housing, the trim, all the nuts, bolts, and screws...just laying loose on the floormat! I was LIVID that they would even try to give me back my car in that state. I opened up on the service advisor demanding it be put together immediately and, much to his credit, he was very apologetic and it got dealt with...still, I don't understand the attitude that would let that out the door in the first place. In the end they "fixed" my misfitting trim but it doesn't look any better than when it started. I haven't been back since.
Also, while outside of that experience the quality of work was fine, I did find the service advisors generally unreachable and unwilling to be helpful or to listen...and they love to push unnecessary stuff like fuel injector cleaning services and transmission flushes (on a year old car? Yeah, not gonna happen...)
