Felt Like a Piece of Meat

I live in Montgomery and fully believe in buying at home. I bought my first car at Jack Ingram Nissan about 3 years ago, and had a wonderful experience. One of the managers there at the time, known locally as "Dan, Dan the Nissan Man" was a pleasure to work with. He quickly presented me with numbers on the vehicle my wife wanted, we shook on the deal, and 2 hours later, we were driving our new car home. The financing did take a great deal of time, as the finance guy seemed to want to tell us how smart he was and how good he was at his job, but overall, he was polite and did a good job. I went back, even though I knew Dan was no longer there, as I had read that he was suing the dealership for age discrimination. I don't know the details and figure, to a great degree, is none of my business. My decision to go back was a VERY, VERY bad decision. I went back about 3 weeks ago looking for a Titan truck. I have never seen the level of incompetence that I encountered there. The salesman knew nothing about the vehicle, could basically answer none of my questions, and appeared totally lost. But, that was not the worst of it. I went on a Saturday, and could not get there until late in the afternoon, and that was obviously a mistake. After being told basically nothing about the vehicle by the sales person, I went in to get some figures on the vehicle. Again, it was late on Saturday afternoon, but I wanted to buy the truck, but, after being presented with nothing but a series of monthly payments, I became very frustrated. A young man that said he was a manager came out and told me that he had given me the best deal he could, and I simply needed to pick a payment and we could finish this thing up, because it was late Saturday afternoon, and he had a dinner engagement. I then told him to give me a cash price, as I intended to pay cash, and was not interested in payments. The young manager then told me that I undoubtedly didn't want to buy a truck, and that he had a dinner engagement to get to, that if I would come back Monday he would give me a cash price. I told him thank you, and left, and immediately called Mitchell Nissan in Enterprise, told them that I wanted to buy a truck that day if possible, and asked them what they had. They had the exact vehicle I was looking for, and I immediately set out for Enterprise, where the sales person, manager and finance person was waiting for me. It took about 30 minutes for the salesman to THOROUGHLY explain everything about the vehicle to me, and 45 minutes later, I was on my way back to Montgomery driving my new truck. Being the kind of person that I am, I will drive to Enterprise for service before I let Jack Ingram work on it. Ingram has lost my business forever. Shame on them!!
