2013 Subaru BRZ: Is a Child Seat Practical?

Will the kid fit? That's the question. The answer is yes. Is it practical? Not really, but it can be done. There's enough room to fold the Subaru BRZ front seat back and install a small adult up there. And by "small adult" I mean my wife, who's 5'4". Beyond that, it probably doesn't make sense.

I do have a friend, however, who hauls two kids around in his Scion FR-S, but he's dedicated. And that's what's required if you plan on doing this with any frequency.

I'm still hoping you guys move back to the original format at www.insideline.com. As much as you're pushing this format, it just doesn't engender the same user experience (please trouble shoot your website on Safari - it really acts badly and gets wacky on an iPad too). Yah, I'm sure it's better for ad revenue and I'm sad that the almighty dollar trumped a good thing. I miss InsideLine. Kevin

She looks content so far. And hey, this is more room than is found in the 911 back seats, right...?

  • And here my wife and I passed on the Dart because we thought it was "too small" for our family of four, so I know I couldn't deal with a BRZ! I've always liked small cars, but with my daily driver being a 2012 Dodge Journey, I've gotten used to the elbow room. FWIW, the Journey is definitely "small" compared to a Pilot or Traverse, etc. I would not want something quite that big if I'm living in the city.

This is such a unique situation to be in -- having a kid that's small enough to fit but old enough to get herself in and out without you having to break your back doing it ... what's the point of trying so hard?
