I have a 2005 9-2X Aero and its not bad. Only too compliants are too little torque, still a tad too noisy, and the fuel economy stinks in stop go traffic (if the gauge is reading empty it usually means the car is just about to die). With the 2006 model they fixed the torque problem by putting in the turbocharged 2.5i engine instead of the 2.0. Insurance is a bit ... Read More
Hello all, I have a internet price quote of 2006 Saab Aero 9-2X Aero five speed for $22,500 + TTL ($5000 off sticker). It's a silver five speed Aero with no other options. They also offered a fully loaded 9-2X Linear (sunroof, sport, and cold package) for the same price. Is this a good deal? Personally, if either of these cars were $21,000, I would be all over it right now...I ... Read More
it was hidden between the barrier dividing Saab from Suzuki and the background behind the 9-7X, so I guess you could say they didn't want to emphasize it. It was an Aero though, so America definitely has the Aero for 2006.
They lowered the prices on the 9-5 and 9-3, but I'm not sure they paid any attention to the 9-7X and the 9-2X.
If I'm not mistaken, there is already a 3 grand (dealer or customer) on it, and it just came. The only reason of not giving bogger discounts would be no supply, i.e. if they're are able to terminate delivery contract with FHI. We don't know when it is supposed to end and how many units they've contracted, so it is a guesswork now.
Well.. they need to get busy, then... Because the '06 model has the same high price as the '05 did... I know they lowered the price on a lot of cars, but I don't think they touched Saab... Last May, people were buying loaded '05 Aero models for $8600 off of MSRP..
I wouldn't count on discounts that would match last years. All the info I have heard is that GM hopes to get away from the huge discounts by lowering the total price of the vehicles. As to if the total cost reduction, I haven't heard how it will compare.
In the summer time maybe? Is GM going to bring back the GM Employee Pricing For Everyone campaign to clean house again in June?
Wow... I just checked earlier this week, and all they had was info on the '05.... I thought it was done for, as well... Just "built-my-own".. with everything except automatic... Right at $32K.. I wonder how long it will take for the $7000 incentives to kick in..
It Exists! Saab has updated its 9-2X page on its website.
I noticed this too. Yahoo and other websites have a 2006 9-2x available to build/research but nothing on saabusa.com nor is there anything on my local Saab dealership's website. I live near Seattle. Just a heads up to anyone interested in a used 9-2x, there is one for sale at Carter Saab/VW. It's a manual Linear with @ 9516 miles, heated seats, sunroof, CD player, and what I believe are 16" ... Now I'm not so sure there will be a 2006 9-2X because the Saab website has all the 2006 info for every other model EXCEPT for the 9-2X, where it still has 2005 information listed.

Few people realize this, but Subarus benefitted from the partnership, too. The same steering revisions were put in the 2005 Impreza, and leather is now offered on 2006 models (moonroof too). The interior went into '05 Imprezas also, and had been in Foresters since 2003. These cars are made in Gunma, Japan, at a Subaru plant, it's not like they're going to give Saab all the good stuff. -juice
will be produced for 2006, they just haven't hit showrooms yet. (either that or Saab is slow at updating their website) The GM Fleet e-catalog has a 2006 9-2X listed. (go to www.gmfleet.com and poke around a little)
I am looking at the new WRXs but I sure like the looks of the Saab 9-2X much better. The corporate site is still showing the 2005 model with no info on the 2006. Does anybody know if it is going to get the 2.5L turbo like the new WRX? I have driven a 2.5L turbo in a Forrester a few years ago and was very impressed with the drivetrain, of ... Read More
If I'm not mistaken, 05 has no sportshift feature, 06 will along with new engine (not really new - reapplied version of Forester XT/Baja Turbo). Unfortunately, both 2006 models of the Impreza and Forester will have the 4EAT without sportshift. This will likely be the same for the 9-2X. Regarding the 2500 production numbers of the 9-2X, these seem to be rumors right now. Hopefully, Saab/GM will announce the real 2006 ... Read More
Did you buy the WRX brand new? Just curious. I too believe the 9-2X was not advertised to it's fullest. It's a shame that it sold for less than the WRX. Total slap in Subarus' face and to everyone who purchased a WRX brand new...but that's how the big automotive companies work... especially if they hold a monetary interest. I personally would have never considered the Saab Aero without the discounts. ... Read More
I think you have some valid points on the 2005 experience GM encountered. However...if next year only 2500 (as rumor has it) models are made and only 600+ Aeros are made out of the 2500 units I say that GM did their math for sell thru (sold at full price). Be it...that you don't agree that some people have an admiration for the brand name Saab and actually see that they ... Read More
The only real advantage that the Aero has over the '06 WRX Limited is the availabilty of optional HIDs. 17" wheels are standard on the '06 WRX. Leather, moonroof and AWP are standard on the WRX Limited sedan and wagon; so the gap between the 9-2X and WRX is now much closer in terms of content. I agree, content-wise, they aren't very far apart anymore. However, Saab has the better warranty ... Read More
From Saab 9-2X gets More Horsepower for 2006, Pricing Unchanged: ...The 2006 9-2X Aero pays tribute to Saab's signature torque heritage with a new 2.5L turbo 4-cylinder boxer engine that makes 230 horsepower @ 5,600 rpm and 235 lb. ft of torque @ 3,600 rpm (up from 227-hp/217 lb. ft. last year). ...An available Leather Package includes leather appointed seats and door inserts on the Aero. ...but the rebates have decreased -- $5K on Aero (likely to be automatics only) and $4K for Linears. On another note, it seems that there WILL be a 2006 9-2X Aero as claimed by a Saab dealership employee to have been stated in an internal memo. No specifics as to engine size, prices, etc. Stay tuned, if interested.
There is a posting in saabnet.com from a Saab salesman that Aero's with manual transmission may be gone. If you are interested and find one I would grab it. The rumour is that there will be no turbo 9-2X for 2006, only the non-turbo 2.5, upgraded in HP like the Impreza. Jim H.
OK, keyword here is Fleet. It is possible that only the Saab 9-2X Linear is the only one available for fleet sales, not the Saab 9-2X Aero. This does not necessarily mean that the Aero is no longer going to be sold for 2006.
I am not sure if AERO will or won't be offered for 2006... The only thing we can see is that the 92X will have 2 engines for 2006 according to the pdf: SAAB Saab 9-2X 2.5L/4 5-spd Man 22 29 2.5L/4 4-spd Auto 23 29 2.0L/4T 5-spd Man 20 26 2.0L/4T 4-spd Auto 19 25 Which are the 2 WRX ngines we we talking about.. Glad to hear that the mirror is an easy install. Subaru dealers in the Boston area want 1 hour of labor ($80-100) for the installation! Not to mention what it might cost to have a Saab dealer do the work if Saab offered the option directly. Btw, I can't believe Saab recommends dealer installation for the arm rest extension. Literally less than 5 minutes and a screwdriver. Regarding the mirror pre-wiring, ... Read More
I am in a 9-3 lease until February, 2006 but called some dealers anyway the other day on the 9-2X because the rebates right now are too incredible to pass up. I was told that Saab was offering an early lease turn-in program for leases with maturity dates between now and December 31, 2005. They would take in any leased Saab and make, or waive, the remaining 7 payments or so ... Read More
