2012 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster

Monday morning I dropped the SLS off at Simonson Mercedes-Benz near our office in Santa Monica to have its top repaired. It stopped opening and closing properly last week.

I needed to see Stan Sax who has helped us with other cars in the past. Doing so required a 25-minute wait. Sax, however, was relatively efficient and his part of the check-in process went quickly. He offered no assessment of the top but told me it would be a few days before they could get to it.

I wondered how that would sit if I were the owner of this piece of rolling gratuity.

    so that's the experience when something relatively major breaks on your 200k and change car? no MB loaner or anything?

    @zcalvert, You get a free loaner vehicle for any type of repair at MB dealers (and most luxury makes). Even if your car is 30 years old you will still get a free loaner. However, that loaner isn't going to be another SLS. It's more likely you will get pu

    thanks @mercedesfan. i wish they'd give more info about this... has the dealer heard of this happening before... has MB corporate gotten involved since it's their car and they certainly wouldn't want the negative attention?
