2014 Kia Forte: Controls Close at Hand

November 13, 2013

2014 Kia Forte

I grew up in Philadelphia, sometimes affectionately referred to as Philthydelphia. From time to time (and this is pretty gross) a pig truck would try to take an illegal shortcut through my neighborhood and pollute the air. A pig truck is just like what it sounds, a truck full of pigs. And boy did they leave a trail of stick behind them. We'd all run for cover, shut our windows and protect our noses. I don't think they do this anymore, at least I hope not.

What does this have to do with our 2014 Kia Forte? Well, despite every vehicle in California having to get smog inspected regularly, there are still a lot of really stinky vehicles in this town. When I get stuck downwind of one, I appreciate how easy it is to recirculate the air in the Forte.

The recirc button is not hidden inside the nav screen controls, or several steps inside a complicated climate system. It's right there and only takes one second to block out the stench.

One last thought: bacon.

I saw a Kia Cadenza in the flesh today and thought it was quite attractive.

We may be getting a Cadenza for our long-term fleet. -- Donna

@donnaderosa You guys should consider the Infiniti Q50 for your long-term fleet too. It would be a good opportunity to see how it compares to the G35 since it seems to be such a different vehicle.

  • Ditch the Cadenza and get a CTS-Vsport. Saw my first 2014 CTS today and I must say, this car has Swag. It looks like money. If you took all the badges off even a non car enthusiast would know that it's a very expensive car. The Twin Turbo engine is a beast with 420 HP. That's only 40 horses less than the V8 in your Stingray. It's like GM said to Ford, we see your Ecoboost 3.5 365HP and raise you 3.6 and 420HP don't need a fancy name just Twin Turbo V6. Oh and to the Germans we'll throw in RWD, E-Limited Slip Diff, Magnetic Ride Control, less weight and near perfect 50/50 weight distribution. Now what you got to say? Can't wait to see what this engine will do in the lighter smaller ATS-V.

I have to say this Kia Forte sedan is kicking the tail of the Chevy Cruz in the content/value arena.
