Sales Department Fleeces Customers

As a licensed attorney, I cannot give this Honda dealership a good rating or review due to its deceptive practices, overinflated prices compared to similar dealerships in the area, and due to experiencing racist microaggressions during my test drive. I do not wish such service or practices on other customers, and I hope that this review will help to achieve that end.

The Sales Department was Fantastic!!

I would like to personally tell you how much Arra Ashtey is an asset to your company. My husband and I have been working with him personally for months trying to find a minivan. We are over an hour away, and Arra took much of his time to communicate with us on the phone regarding what was available or happen to come in on trade, and never made us waste a trip up there to look at something we never would have bought. In the end, we walked out with a brand new Honda Odyssey (which I LOVE!). He was consistently very professional throughout the whole process and such a great help! With absolutely no complaints regarding Arra, the financing department was horrible. The van was picked out prior to arriving along with the pricing. Arra confirmed with them that once I arrived they could have me out within an hour and a half due to me having prior commitments. John and Tim finally got me out of there 5 hours later, yes FIVE! Yes, the system had went down for a very short period, but between them standing around chatting or being on their phones, it took way to many hours to process a credit application and get the paperwork together! I bought the van on Thursday, early afternoon, and it did not appear to be a busy time of the day. There was honestly no reason that the processing should have ever taken that long! Especially after confirming I would be out of there in a timely manner before I arrived! We have bought many vehicles from you before, and even with walking in, picking one out, and processing everything, we have never been in there for such a long length of time! If this is the standard procedure time now, someone may want to observe what is taking these guys so long to get things done. I will absolutely commend Arra for doing such a wonderful job throughout this whole experience, even when my temper ran short because these guys couldn’t do their job in a timely manner. Love the van, the sales rep, the deal, but the financing department needs some work.

Customer loyalty appears to mean little to this dealer

Tried to purchase a new Honda CR-V with Joyce Koons Honda of Manassas. Have bought and serviced vehicles at this dealer for nearly 30 years. Price they offered me was standard internet price. I asked if they would give any reduction in that offer given my 30 years of loyal business. Response was no. I subsequently purchased a new Honda for a much lower cost with a very highly rated competitor. Will also service my new Honda with the dealer from which I purchased. Too bad loyalty appears to have such little significance with Koons.

Satisfied customer for over 20 years

I have always had a positive experience at Joyce Koons Honda. The sales staff and the service staff have been willing listeners and had my best interests in mind. I recently had my 2007 Honda Accord EX totaled by an uninsured driver. So, I came in to look at the 2015 models and take a test drive. Before I came in, I did not realize that the 2015 model would perform so far beyond my expectations! The deal I got was better than I any other offer from any other Honda dealership. The service department at Joyce Koons Honda is top notch! I recommend Joyce Koons Honda to anyone.

How they lost a past customer

Calls and emails to get me in for a 2015 for what I am paying on my 2013. I spent 3 hours on the floor in which I had to all the sales work including contacting the bank for payoff info and routing numbers, very short test drive and review of vehicle. Only to hear they want 500 more than I am paying now and offer 5000 less than payoff for my 2013 which is like new flawless....I asked them to not call anymore and opted out on all emails....[non-permissible content removed] are now offering the same 2015 for the 2013 payment again...They are now going to the spam folder...Rick Hendrick thanks you Joyce Koons and you can keep your free oil change...and please stop sending me the fake email offers... I am not your customer anymore.

Terrible experience.

Took 5 days for some one to respond online. Then when I went there, they wasted my time, acted like they know what they were doing and then refused to give me the Internet price their website claims they will. Would not deal on the car I wanted and kept pushing another. Even after I've left, they're still trying to email me about the wrong car. Stay away!!!

Pretty poor visit to Joyce Koons

I went in to look at the '13 Accord, test drive it, and just get a feel for the dealership before deciding whether or not to do business with them. I got the first salesman who was "up", Hari D. I told him the model I wanted and he asked me to come with him to the back lot to look for it. Once we found it, he would get the keys for a test drive. And we walked, and walked, and walked. He couldn’t find the model I wanted. He finally went back to the building to check the inventory. (Why hadn’t he done this first before leading me and my 9 year old son all over the back lot?) He came back with two sets of keys, neither of which fit a model I wanted. He said they did not have one and headed back to take the keys back. I looked at the car next to me and it was the model I wanted. We yelled for Hari and told him about the car. He went inside, got the key and came back. We all got into the car and drove to the front of the dealer. I thought he wanted me to drop him off so I could test drive the car, just me and my son. But no, Hari came along on the test drive! Awesome! (I hate it when salesmen do this!) So we drove it, came back, and told him thank you as we prepared to leave. I had told Hari that I needed to sell my own car before I bought the Accord. He told the sales manager this and the manager said he would like to see if they could give me a good offer on my car. I agreed, knowing that I could get at least $13,000 for the car - $2000 below Blue Book. After a while, Hari came back with their offer - $9000! I laughed and asked, “Seriously?” With that my son and I left the dealership. I sold my car for $14,000 in two days and bought the Accord – the exact model I wanted – from Hendrick Honda for a fantastic deal 4 days later! Hendrick was awesome! I’m not so sure about Joyce Koons….

Purchase of My Accord EXL

Both the Sales Manager Ed Castro and Representative Dipak Regmi were very pleasant, respectful and helpful. The understanding over the phone were honored and the purchase was made in 30 minutes. Compared to some other dealerships that I had visited, Joyce Koons Honda has been a very good buying experience. I will definitely recommend this dealership to my friends and associates.

This was my first time at this dealership and my experience was excellent! My sales consultant was Isaac Morris, and I rate him the best of all car salesmen I have ever encountered. I took the vehicle for a test drive and quickly he explained all the basic features and more. He was thorough and to the point. He knew what he was talking about. He was pleasant and courteous, and he made the shopping experience fun (yes, that's right, fun). As for how long it took for me to drive off the lot, let's just say that when I'm making a $30K + purchase, I don't want to be rushed. His supervisor James was also pleasant to work with, and I left a happy consumer. I bargained hard, and they worked with me until I got the price for the car and trade-in I felt was fair. I had visited another dealership and spoke with several on the phone, but this one gets my gold star. I'd recommend this dealership and Isaac without any reservations.

waste of time

I used the USAA buying service to get quotes from dealers in the area. Koons doesn't participate so I submitted a quote request via their web site. they came back with a quote about $1,600 higher than the lowest quote I got from USAA. When they called to arrange an appointment I told them about the USAA quote and I asked if they could match it. They told me to come in and they would see what they would do. I arrived, met with the sales rep and showed him both the USAA quote and the Koons quote via e-mail. I told him that if he would match the USAA quote, I would buy the car right there. He went back to his manager then came back in 2 minutes and told me they would not match the quote. I asked if they would close the gap between their Internet quote and the USAA quote. He said no. I got up and walked out the door after wasting 45 minutes driving there. I'm honestly shocked that there I was, checkbook in hand, ready to buy a $35k vehicle for over invoice price, and they let me walk out the door.

Painful Experience

This dealership leaves a lot to be desired! I spend way too long trying to purchase the car. The dealership did not honor the price quote provided over the phone and totally low balled the price on my trade in. Eventhough I had computer print out of the quoted price for both new car and used car, they were haggling the price. When a decision was made, I was told they did not have the car I had just purchased and proceded to try to sell me another vehicle (same model). The process took so long that when I finally got to financing I was tired and the process was rushed to the point I don't feel as if I asked the proper questions and that the information was so rushed and possibly not completely forth coming (price of extended warranty). When I finally got ready to drive home, my things had been removed from my used car and it had already been taken away to the used car lot. Never even got to look inside. I was told there was a full tank of gas but on the next day, I realized the tank was on reserve. I then discovered the lower glove box was not working. There was a complete disconnect in communication between the internet sales manager and the car saleman. The manager did not approach me until I requested to meet with him. There were minor concessions made but nothing to make up for the painful experience of buying this car and the terrible rush due to their lack of time management. I would not recommend the dealership at this time.

Worst experience spending lots of money ever

When I showed up to do a test drive and possibly buy a Pilot the manager on duty pulled up my file and saw they were selling the SUV too "cheap" so he spent twenty minutes calling other managers trying to cancel the agreement. The sales rep then said OK lets wrap this up and was shocked that I actually wanted to test drive the vehicle. I then spent another two hours waiting just to sign on the dotted line. When I went back to have the roof bars installed (no they couldn't even do it when I was there the first time) I was told it would tak another hour before they could even see me. Thank goodness I bothered to make an appointment...not!!! I was also told it would take 30-45 minutes once they got to me. They also said there was no record of me getting anything and I had to go straighten it out myself. I said forget it and installed the bars at home in 4 minutes...litterally 4 minutes. Worst sales and service any where around.

If I could Give Zero Stars I Would

I've waited write a while to write this review, but I can't put it off any more. The short version is that the experience of buying a new car from this dealership was so awful that there is simply nothing they could conceivably do to make us go back. Maybe I've been spoiled by Carmax (I am on my second car from them), but the experience of replacing my wife's car from Koon's was just terrible. If you are looking for a car, don't go here, period. If you want to know why, here are the big things that that went wrong with our Koon's experience: 1. It took us almost 5 hours over two days to pay cash for a car that they had on the lot. They dragged out the price negotiation for 2.5 hours when we had an offer from another dealership that we were simply asking them to meet (nearly MSRP even!), then when we came back the next day to pick up the car it took another 2.5 hours, and we weren't even getting financing! 2. Why, you might ask, did we come back the next day at all? Simply put, the salesman tried to pull a bait and switch. After negotiating a price for an automatic car, they pulled around a manual. When we pointed that out, they claimed that the automatic would be more expensive (which isn't even correct, manuals are usually several hundred more). When we refused and pointed out that we had been negotiating over an automatic, they suddenly realized that they didn't have one on their lot, so they had to get one from another location for us the next morning. 3. They gave us the hard sell on EVERYTHING. When I tried to get them to cut short the pitch on the service plan and extended warranty, I was literally scolded ("You don't know what you want, how could you know what you want? You haven't even listened to me!"). 4. At no point were we made to feel like we were valued customers about to spend thousands of dollars. In fact, the overwhelming feeling we got from the entire staff was that they were doing us a favor by selling us a car. I could go on, but if that's not enough to make you go somewhere I else then the other little things won't make a difference.

Bond at Koons Honda

i just purchased a brand new 2010 Honda Accord from Koons Honda in Manassas, VA. They treated me like loyalty. I was given more than I wanted for my trade, a 1999 accord, and Josh Bond got me a huge discount off of the new Accord. All of the managers new what they were talking about and were very straight forward and honest with me. The finance guy Tim Rowan wanted to sell me a bunch of stiff i did not need, but was not pushy about it and was honest with me whether it would do me any good or not. I will buy the rest of my cars from koons in manassas, and hopefully so will everybody else that i know
