Buyer Beware

by SH on 05/06/2021

My experience with Richardson Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram is sadly summed up in three simple words: • Dishonest • Disappointing • Disengaged On Sunday, 5/1 a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Sport (4 door, hard top, 134, 537 miles) was posted on Richardson CJDR’s website for $16499 (and on other affiliate sites as well). I scheduled an appointment to see the vehicle at 9 AM on Monday. Upon arrival they were not ready for my visit. Once the sales manager, “S” found the keys we test drove the Jeep. I understand it had just come into inventory, but I have never seen a dirtier vehicle inside and out. During the drive I explained that my husband would want to see the Jeep as well but had a conflict the rest of the day. I offered to leave a deposit, but “S” assured me that was not necessary and that my husband could test drive the Jeep the following day, so we set an appointment for 10 AM Tuesday. Before leaving I asked “S” if the price listed was the final price. He said yes, although it had not yet been through a service check and if there were issues identified that could impact the price, but as is that day the price was $16499. Monday night I received a text that “S” would not be at the dealership the following day after all and that we should probably just wait until Wednesday. We wanted to move forward and were told that his colleague “J” could show my husband the car on Tuesday at 10 AM. Upon arrival, “J” was not available for 15 minutes and when available was not prepared for the visit (nor was he expecting it). It was clear “J” did not want to be involved and was quick to defer all questions. When the Jeep was finally pulled around to be test driven, my husband thought it was a different vehicle. In 24 hours, they had removed the hard top and replaced it with a soft top that had several tears (see images). My husband asked that the hard top be replaced and that a resolution be provided. In the meantime, I left messages for both “S” and the GM, “J”. “S” finally replied on Wednesday midday, but I never heard from the GM or sales associate colleague. On Wednesday afternoon “S” left a lengthy voicemail stating the Jeep had finally been through service and multiple issues were identified totaling $2800. One would think that that amount would be added to the original list price for a new total of $19300. Apparently, that is not how it works at Richardson CJDR as the price was going to be closer to $23K. “S” even sent over an image of what “they had in it”, however it was for a different Jeep (2013 with fewer miles). What we anticipated to be a smooth, easy buying process (we were paying cash) for a Jeep for our son turned out to be incredibly time-consuming, frustrating, and disappointing. Buyer beware.

Great Experience!!!!!!!

by Row14 on 04/17/2015

Deno Moore in used cars did a superb job in helping our parents trade-in their old pickup truck and place them in a new pre-owned car that is much easier for them to get in/out of. Thanks for making it a great experience!

Worst Experience Ever!!!! Stay Away

by honest_abe1 on 04/07/2015

This was the worst experience in attempting to purchase a car that I have ever had. Danny the individual who is over the used car inventory is dishonest (and that's putting it mildly). Beware if you deal with this dealership because it is exactly like all the terrible experiences and stories that you have heard about regarding used cars. They are truly "Used Car Salesmen" and try to sell you junk and then try to hike the price up when you catch them. I found them to have no sense of being honest or square dealing. The owner or GM is no better as he thinks everyone is trying to get a deal and that they should be happy if they have their time and money wasted just to end up with said deal. This dealership fails to realize that not everyone is trying to get over on them and that they should not try to take advantage of people. Sometimes people just want to be fair and to be treated like a customer. This establishment seems to think that they are the only game in town and that they are doing you a favor by taking your money. I went in to purchase a car for my daughter and the car they had advertised as a automatic was...you guessed it...a manual. I said that I didn't want that vehicle but before I could leave they said they had an automatic of the same make that came in on trade. They tried to sell it to me for 4,000 dollars over the trade they gave the previous owner. How do I know, you ask? He was still there and I spoke to him. He disclosed that the car was a buyback (lemon) in CA which the dealership did not disclose immediately (they did later). He also told me that the check engine light was intermittently coming on and off. I was still interested in the car and I made the dealership a fair offer of $2000 above the trade in value that they gave the previous owner (that they [Danny] accepted) with the caveat that I wanted to have the car checked out by a 3rd party. I did and it cost me $119 just to find out that the car needed about $2000 of repairs. When I took it back to Danny to have a conversation about the issues. He didn't want to come off the price and simply wanted me to pay for parts and have them do the labor (which is nothing to them because the mechanics are employed by them). When I said "no" I was basically stuck to eat the $119. I then spoke with another manager who said that it was explicitly communicated that the car in question was not to be sold at all and he had no idea why the salesperson and Danny showed it to me. He also told me flat out that he was not going to refund my money (later he said he would). The whole experience was a "cluster" and I wasted 4 hours. I ultimately wanted to talk to the owner/GM Shannon Ashford and he seemed unconcerned about my experience and basically doubted that I was telling the truth about Danny's behavior, stating "Danny was here when I got here...Thats hard to believe.. not him". He also said that having a $1000 dollars knocked off the car was worth my bad experience and that should have made it worth my time. Then he asked me in a condescending manner did I understand like I was some idiot. At that point I knew that he didn't care at all. He thought I wanted something from him when all I wanted was for him to listen. I decided at that second that even though the price they were giving me was a good price after all the lies and deceit...I decided to walk away because I couldn't live with myself if had given those shady characters one red cent of my money (Never give your money to people who treat you poorly). I am a firm believer in that besides I have kids and how could I raise them or teach them this valuable virtue if I caved in!!!! Your dignity is more important than any amount of money!!! I am telling you that this establishment will take advantage of you or they will strip you of your self worth and dignity by treating you like dirt while working under the guise that they are doing you a favor....unbelievable!!!!. You should stay very very very far away from this dealership. I hate writing reviews but this place is so bad I had to warn people. Buy at your own risk and know whatever deal you think you're getting....you're NOT because they are ripping you off. I get that they want their margins to be high and make as much money as they can but these are [non-permissible content removed] and Danny is the worst and on top of that he's the one in charge of the inventory (so he says) and he sets the price. Again, I can't be more clear when I say stay clear of this place. [non-permissible content removed].

Deceptive sales practice

by kathmk1 on 09/06/2014

We bought a new Ram truck with a towing package, but when we got it home realized it lacked a hitch receiver. In the fine print under options it listed "remove hitch receiver" so the manager Roger refused to offer service after the sale to add what should not have been removed. We tried several times to have them make it right but got nothing but a sales pitch for adding the part at an inflated price. They obliviously do not want our repeat business. The stupid sale gimmick letter to win prizes that brought us to the dealer should have been a warning. So buyer beware-- check options for subtractions of standard equipment and don't expect this dealer to make it right.

Sales Manager - Jimmy T. - became aggressive to abusive

by brez23 on 09/06/2013

Tonight my family and I went to Richardson Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram to look at a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit. We started with a great sales person. When it came to pricing they come in above another dealership. As we were leaving the general sales manager Jimmy T. became aggressive to my family and I (unfortunately my 12 year old son had to witness this attack). My husband and I drove to the dealership separately and as I walked to my vehicle he followed me the entire way still screaming until I entered my car. I never responded to his comments as I was afraid of him physically attacking me. Thankfully my husband stayed in the parking lot until I made it to my car and was pulling away. Not only did this give me a bad taste concerning this dealership but it also gave me a bad taste concerning Jeep. I would NOT recommend going to this dealership anytime in the future. I have already contacted Jeep Chrysler Co concerning the type of employees that they have representing their company.
