Very Bad Experience

by Deb on 05/18/2020

We recently bought a F350 Ford Platinum from Chuck Colvin Ford. It was not as expected and they would not work with us on this purchase. It broke down with less than 40 miles of buying it and they would not work with us on refunding our money. They have been very unresponsive and have not provided ANY paperwork for the sale of this vehicle nor returned text messages or phone calls about the missing paperwork. I am believing that after trying to get a response from them with no success that the only recourse left to us is to hire an attorney and to bring them to court. DO NOT BUY FROM CHUCK COLVIN. They are a rip off for vehicles they sell, can care less about their sales customers, and are non-responsive to attempts to contact them.

Bad Sales Department

by Tim on 05/18/2020

We just bought a used F350 Platinum with only 1,965 miles on it. The deal was made online from Chuck Colvin Ford Nissan dealership. The salesman told me 'It is loaded with options.' We let them know we were planning to use it for cross country travels hauling a 5th wheel and what features were important to us. We were told it was loaded with those features and we could see the window sticker on their site. The truck was delivered, but the salesman did not go through the features when he delivered it because of Covid19 concerns, but again he assured me 'This thing is loaded with all the options.' I pointed out it did not have a sun/moon roof or sprayed in bed liner. And that it surprised because this Platinum was supposed to be near the top of the line and "loaded". My mistake was first of all ordering online from them, and then for not insisting on going through everything with me to make sure it had all the features I wanted before buying it and just taking the dealership word that it should because it was a 'loaded Platinum'. I waited to make sure I had insurance coverage on the truck before driving it. When I finally did drive it I found that it did not have all of the features that were important to us. I had found these features on trucks that were lesser models that we had driven before the Covid19 quarantine, so I was very surprised not to find them on this 'loaded top of the line Platinum.' WAIT, it got even worse. During this initial drive the truck broke down. 'What?' Yes, it broke down after driving it only 39 miles. I had to have it towed back that night to the dealership. I found out the next day it was a fuel pump that went out. They were going to repair it under the factory warranty, but it would take a week. In the meantime they were nice enough to bring a loaner to use. I was told 'it is a fluke. It happens sometimes' that a Ford breaks down having only 2,004 miles on it. I talked to the sales manager about returning this truck because this truck I was assured was 'loaded with features' did not have features i expected and that were important to my wife and I, also because it broke down after only 39 miles. I was told 'No!' in no uncertain terms by the sales manager. 'We post the sticker on every vehicle when we advertise them that have the features for people to see, and that costs us extra to do so.' The best he would do was to take the truck back on a trade in for another truck, but not give the price we just paid 39 miles ago. "We have costs involved" was his reason. He said to go to the Ford's site and build a truck with all the features we wanted or to write them down and they would help us find a vehicle to trade this truck in on. I guess it is just all about the business to them, and not how that 'business' impacts the customer. There was no willingness to consider all the circumstances and to do what was the customer's request, which was to take back the broken down truck and return the funds from a few days prior (with only 39 miles being put on the truck). So learn from my mistakes: Don't buy online from Colvin's; make sure it has what you want on it and don't take the salesmans word that 't is top of the line and loaded' with features; read the sticker somewhere in their ad, but make sure to have them explain what features are included in any packages listed and all verbiage used on the sticker; and make sure before you buy it and drive it off the lot that is EXACTLY what you want, because when you leave you are stuck with it and there is no going back - even if it breaks down the first time you drive it. All that said, I have learned my lesson from this experience and will not buy another vehicle from the Chuck Colvin Ford Nissan dealership again. I did give one star instead of zero (if that would be possible) because they did deliver the truck . Not much there for the two star rating, but I did want to give them some credit.

My Ford Focus purchase

by JeremiahBro on 10/23/2019

I had a fantastic experience buying my car. Tim Richardson, who facilitated my purchase, is very knowledgeable and understanding toward first time and experienced car shoppers. He helped me find exactly what I needed and I couldn't be more satisfied. To friends, family and anyone in the market for a new or used vehicle, I highly recommend going through Chuck Colvin auto, and through Tim if you are so fortunate!

My best car purchasing experience ever!

by Angela on 09/05/2019

From the minute I arrrived, the door was opened for me by the greeter, who was very kind and respectful. From then on, my purchasing experience was top notch! Starting with my salesman J.D. He was a pleasure to work with and was humorous throughout the process of my purchase, which made for a relaxed and pleasant car purchasing experience! Then came Dave Hoover, the sales manager. Awesome Dave! He was so respectful and he listened to what my needs and wants were and went beyond what I ever expected, in bringing my dream car to fruition! I appreciate him so much! Through the process of completing the additions added to my car, that Dave made sure were performed to my specifications, I met other employees who were directly involved in completing every detail of the completion process. All of them were wonderful! Specifically, the one who really stood out was Amado, their detail manager. He worked hard on perfecting the finishing process. From adding the spoiler and decals, to the clear coat and interior protection additions, to the final detail of my Mustang. He is a master at what he does and a very nice man, who made sure everything was done to perfection! Amado, you rock! This team is the best at customer service and satisfaction ever! Thank you all for what you did to make my car buying experience the best I have ever had! I highly recommend Chuck Colvin Ford-Nissan as the dealership to purchase the auto you want for all your needs and pleasure!

Jesse Freiley made us a great deal!

by Dawn on 06/10/2019

Jesse did a great job finding my car for me despite my strict budget. We had emailed him on Friday about a sedan that ended up being not what we were looking for. Jesse emailed back and recommended a Ford Focus hatchback. Not only was the car in great condition, Jesse was able to get us the car at the price we wanted to pay! He could not have been more friendly or knowledgeable. Highly recommend!

Great Experience Again

by Loren on 05/19/2019

My wife and I just purchased another new vehicle from Chuck Colvin Ford. As in the past we were treated respectfully and got a fair price for the new F-150 Lariat and a fair price on the truck we traded in. We received great service from Rod Lundeen, Rich and Jason. Our experiences with Chuck Colvin Ford's sales and service department keep us coming back and we recommend them to family and friends with confidence. Great sales staff and service department and competitive pricing.

Fun time shopping!

by Becca51 on 05/16/2019

I am shopping for a new Altima, and just happened to find this store online. I liked their pricing, so I drove on in from Salem to check them out. When I just popped in, I wasn’t swarmed by salespeople. I talked to Fred, and he was so nice and funny. I’m pretty close to buying from this dealership, just waiting on my insurance money from a wrecked car. Rich the manager was sitting at his desk in the showroom floor, and he was sweet and kind. No closer techniques, just a few questions to make sure I’m happy with how I was treated. How refreshing! I really can’t wait to get my new car here. Just a few more days! Go see Fred and Rich if you want 10 star treatment!!!!!

Lack of Integrity

by Jerry_S on 05/12/2019

Zero stars. I believe this dealership lacks integrity and the sales people are extremely misleading and dishonest. In fact, another dealership in town said Chuck Colvin Ford is known as "Cheatin" Chuck Colvin. I purchased a used vehicle from Colvin Ford. Within the first few weeks and 1500 miles the battery died, all the oil leaked out of the crankcase, a headlamp burnt out, the instrument panel stopped working, and 3rd gear went out in the transmission. The salesman, Fred McAdams strung me along, costing me many hrs and multiple trips to the dealership with promises to "make it right" and claims they "want me to be happy". Finally, after much inconvenience, Fred made it clear there was never any intention to do any such thing.

Great Deal and Great Customer Service

by Tim on 03/03/2019

We had a phenomenal experience with Chuck Colvin Nissan. They gave us an amazing deal. We drove all the way from the Tacoma area to McMinnville because no one could come close to beating their price. Their sales customer service had everything set up and ready to go before we even arrived. I would start with this dealership when buying vehicle.

Won't buy here again

by STurner01 on 10/18/2018

Over the phone Paulie was great to work with and I was excited to go get my new car. However, they weren't upfront with me and I drove 4 hours to get this car. When I got there, they put me with someone I wasn't even talking to previously and he was a horrible sales guy. In fact, the worst yet, his name was Tim Richardson. Only words to describe him and my experience, rude horrible [non-permissible content removed]. I can't believe this guy still works there. I was with my Grandpa and he thought the same thing, but we weren't there for Tim so we focused on the car only. Opened the car door and smelt like smoke so bad and he told me no one smoked in the car however there are smoke burns above the driver seat, I'm not an idiot but I let that slide as I can get the smell out. Then I saw the bumper which had dents in it and obviously had been hit with something. I drove 4 hours and no one thought to tell me about the dent and marks in the bumper and the pictures they sent made it look good. Then I asked if the vehicle had been serviced, he said yes. I asked if they are going to fill it up with gas before I leave the lot and he said no. The car was on empty, thanks guys! Asked him for the spare key and the glove box key, he told us there was only one key. Thank goodness, my grandpa wouldn't take that and made him call the people in the back to check for more keys. I left with three keys, not the only one key Tim said there was. This place was a joke the whole time even when doing my paperwork. That guy messed up at least twice and I had to catch him on it or else who knows what I would be owing on my vehicle now. This vehicle is a winter car only so when I got home I put it in the garage. Just took my vehicle out of the garage to see that it leaks oil. So, I brought the car into a trustworthy dealership in my home town. When I picked up the vehicle all the guys were in disbelief that I bought this vehicle from a dealership. I honestly felt embarrassed but they wanted me to know for future purchases. They took videos and photos of what they found and hadn't been done to the vehicle. When they showed me my filters I was disgusted. They also told me that the dealership must've just added extra oil as it was over full and not replaced. They fixed the oil pressure switch for the reason of the oil leak and took care of me. They told me to call the dealership for a refund as that's what they would do if someone bought a car from them. I called and lucky me I get Tim again.... told him the issue and he told me to bring it in to him. I live 4 hours away number one and I had to tell him AGAIN that I got it fix which is how I know they didn’t do anything. He kept telling me that I’m lucky because I’m covered by Subaru, once again I had to tell him I already got the vehicle fixed as I wasn’t going to drive on a vehicle that hadn’t been taken care. Tim told me to send him pictures then. I sent him a picture right away and he called me back telling me he would refund me for the filters and oil change. I don’t know how many times I had to tell Tim the reason was an oil pressure switch. Then he wrote me saying sorry that I had to deal with Subaru and them trying to sell me their service. AGAIN, I never went to Subaru as Tim was told and sent the receipt of my bill for the dealership I went to. Then he also told me sorry some other dealer is doing this to me. He is sorry that some other dealer SHOWED me the truth of what I didn’t get when buying the car. I'm not upset about the price or money or anything like that. I'm upset I was lied to and nothing on the vehicle had been taken care of.

Great people, great service.

by Mike_W on 04/09/2018

I just purchased my second vehicle from Colvin Auto proving that the exceptional experience my first time around was not a fluke. I purchased a new F-150 14 years ago from Colvin and due to their service and maintenance teams have been able to keep it in Very Good condition all these years and over 200k miles. The F-250 I purchased was a one owner vehicle that had been purchased and maintained at Colvin Auto and it showed. The Sales Team worked very hard to make this deal happen and fulfilled all my requirements. I will continue to purchase my vehicles from Colvin Auto. Mike

Easy and Quick

by Weatherford on 07/20/2017

I bought a Ford Ranger Supercab 4.0 liter from Chuck Colvin Ford in McMinnville, OR back in October of 2005, the truck was actually a 2006 and had only 152 miles on it, i traded my 1999 GMC 4 wheel drive truck for the Ranger. The whole process and experience was quick and easy, totally satisfied. I ended up keeping that Ranger for just shy of twelve years and it only had roughly 1530000 thousand miles on it. Today i took that truck back to Chuck Colvin Ford and traded it for Honda Accord Sedan, Im usually a truck kinda guy but this time i did something outside the box and traded for a car. It was like a breath of fresh air. I drove away totally happy and satified with the help of Tim Richardson and the rest of the guy"s from Chuck Colvin Ford. Quick and easy. In and out the door, i like that, very professional very helpfull for me. If your in the McMinnville, OR area and are thinking about buying a car or truck i highly recommend you check them out. You just might find what your looking for. Thanks Tim Richardson and all the rest of the crew at Chuck Colvin Ford. Ray Weatherford

Blown-Away!

by CharlesNorth on 06/12/2017

My wife and I went in last week to take a look at a car that we had seen and fallen in love with on-line. I was skeptical that we would be leaving with the car however after speaking with Tim Richardson I was blown away. He was non-pushy and his vehicle knowledge was great and after the test drive I was sold. At this point financing was my only concern considering my credit is not that great. Tim and Jason Johnson were amazing! I expected to be laughed out of the building but instead they got me an wonderful deal and I was able to leave the lot with the car that day. We are looking to purchase a second vehicle soon and will be coming straight back here. I can not recommend this dealership high enough!

Mark (manager),was very helpful, had all the answers, and made us feel very comfortable. Last but not least, forgive me for not remembering his name, but the F&I manager was a joy!! They stand behind their word!

by Bill on 04/07/2017

Purchased a used 2012 Jeep Wrangler. It had an issue with one of the cylinder heads that was a factory issue. The manufactures warranty was not available since it was a car from Canada. I got an after market warranty when I bought the Jeep fortunately. I got it repaired at the local Jeep Dealer at the cost of $1800 that the after market warranty covered except for the $200 deductible. Colvin Ford paid the $200 deductible without even asking. I'm glad they stand behind the vehicles they sell!

Purchase of a used Truck

by BoosMom on 11/10/2016

My husband and I needed to find a good used truck at a good price and we found it chuck colvins. The salesman Jesse was very helpful as were the financial guys. They helped get out trade-in at a price we felt good about. We drove away very happy and will purchase our next vehicle at Chuck Colvins in McMinnville. The sales people are very knowledgeable, and work hard to get you in a vehicle that works not only for your needs but also for your budget, They a great amount of used Trucks available for to see. Totally recommend this dealership. We drove from Salem because the deals are better at Chuck Colvins Ford/Nissan.

Excellent Experience, Couldn't Be Happier

by annetted1 on 04/20/2016

As many of you know buying a car from a dealership can be a dreaded and sometimes excruciating experience, but not at Chuck Colvin Auto Center, in McMinnville Oregon. I don’t write internet recommendations often but I have to say that we experienced something completely different last week when we bought a used Town and Country minivan from Jesse Freiley at Chuck Colvin Auto Center. There was no pressure at any point in the process. No “what’s it going to take to earn your business”, no running back and forth between the sales person and the hidden manager, no protracted negotiation with a salesperson who refuses to give you back the keys to your own car, and no effort to make you feel inferior, or stupid, or obligated. Just a truthful and factual exchange of information, and in the end, a fair deal for us and them. The entire transaction, from start to finish was professional, respectful, and fair and when we got to the dreaded signing (paperwork) side of the transaction we were in for a few wonderful and pleasant surprises. Greg Wroblewski, was also professional, and patient. He explained every step, every document, the pros and cons of some of the decisions that still needed to be made and he let us make up our own minds about it all. Then to our surprise and amazement, Greg called us the following day (after we had signed all the paperwork and the deal was done)! He said an additional lender had submitted their bid for our contract and it had a lower interest rate. It would save us several hundred dollars on the maintenance package and interest. He said if we were willing, he would recreate all the documents and we could resign at the lower payment amount. All told, over the life of the loan, this one act of kindness will save us over $660. It only took about 10 minutes of our time because he had all the paperwork done and ready to sign. It was more work for Greg and it would have been so easy to just blow off the lower bid; we would never even have known he had received a better offer. However, when you work at the oldest Ford dealership in Oregon, a dealership with over 100 years of continuous service in a small community like McMinnville, you go the extra mile for your customers. So I’m going outside of my comfort zone by submitting an internet recommendation. If you are in the market for a new (or new to you) car you owe it to yourself to check out the inventory at Chuck Colvin Auto Center ask for Jesse Freiley and if you buy a car from them say hi to our new friend, Greg Wroblewski. Buying a car doesn’t have to be a painful degrading experience if you’re willing to drive to McMinnville and check out Chuck Colvin Auto Center.
