Brakes optional

onTook my Outback in for work on brakes and the known key stuck in ignition problem. After having my car for more than 48 hours I found that not only did Modern Subaru not fix the brakes properly (pedal still went nearly to the floor before brakes engaged) they damaged the storage compartment (would no longer open) and left a rusted part right on the trunk mat. Worst of all, they refused to look at the problems they left/created, told Subaru of America that pending litigation prohibited service at other Subaru dealerships which required a drive of 8 hours round trip to an independent shop (between snowstorms) and essentially voided the extended Subaru warranty. The independent shop fixed the brakes and the storage compartment problem Modern created.

Quality and safe service

onModern Subaru of Boone has been a quiet oasis in a storm where they expertly take care of me and my car. Service is efficient and complete. Waiting areas are clean and well stocked with water, coffee, and snacks. While waiting, everyone is respectful and polite and always following Covid-19 guidelines. Wait times are almost too short for these reasons.

onI bought my first Outback from Modern Subaru, Boone in 2017 and have had all service and routine maintenance performed here also. The staff is great; Knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Facility is ultra clean, which in ‘covid era’ is very important.

onChris Poe - the service manager - is America's best service manager. And that's no exaggeration. If you have worked with Chris, you know this too. I have been working with Chris for almost 10 years now. I think the guy is incapable of lying or even disguising the truth. Chris is as honest as they come. And when you are getting your car serviced or repaired, that's what you need the most. Chris also knows cars inside and out. I don't own a Subaru any more, but I take our Lexus and Toyota's to Chris. One of his tech is a Toytota/Lexus whiz. With Modern Toyota in the same building, they can get parts right away. I wish that there was not so much turnover among the service reps, but I have been working with Neal for years. He does great work - very honest, clear, and reliable. I recommend Chris and Neil to people all the time - without reservation.

onI took our 2016 Outback in for service (12,000 mi - oil change, general service and tire rotation) and was greeted by a smiling Deedee Taylor opening the door for me. Deedee, who was very friendly and energetic, and has a "happy" personality, took the needed information from me and then directed me to the dealership's waiting lounge just a few steps away. I say "lounge" rather than "room" because they offer their customers a very comfortable sitting area, a drink and snack area with Keurig unit and individual teas, coffees, and hot chocolate, individual Half and Half creamers, pastries and snacks, chilled bottled water, and any utensils and paper products needed for these. (There may also be soft drinks available, but I did not pay attention to those.) There is also a TV in the area, and an additional totally-enclosed (by glass front wall so one can see out) office-type room where one can use a laptop, phone or other personal item in privacy. It would also be an area where one could take a child or two to play without worrying about noise disturbing others. The room is complete with open floor space and a desk-height counter and chair for those who need to work while waiting. It's all very pleasant. My car was immediately pulled into the check-in bay while I was speaking with Deedee, and I had to return to it to remove something I needed before entering the waiting lounge. I saw that someone had already covered the complete driver's seat with plastic and put a floor mat in the driver's side floor to protect the interior while the work was being done. After retrieving my item, the car was taken away to the service bay. As I've found to be the "norm" here, the service on the car was completed quickly and efficiently, and soon returned to the check-out bay. I again spoke with Deedee to settle the account and was quickly ready to roll. I had called ahead to make my appointment, but one can also do this online. I did not have to wait even a minute for my service to begin and, once finished, was provided a complete explanation by Deedee as to what was done, what supplies were used to do the work, and a breakdown of any charges. She then asked if I had any questions or concerns before completing the final payment transaction. We've purchased three Subarus from Modern for our family and even though there are three other Subaru dealerships much closer to our home (an hour from Boone), we always return here for everything because of the care they have given us since we stepped in their door the first time. They've always treated us with the absolute best customer service, respect and concern that tells me they want to get it right every single time they see us. We couldn't be more pleased, and also give a special thanks to Deedee for starting the visit off on such a pleasant note!

bad service

ondespite well-known reputation for bad service, i bought a new subaru from this dealer and sure enough, the car has a serious rattle underneath and the service department has abandoned any pretense of caring about "service." classic blame the victim. do not do business here!
