I would never do buisness with them again

by klussier on 01/26/2017

We leased a 2016 Sorento in July of 2015. That is when I should have known to walk away from this dealership. The sales person was absolutely useless. She didn't know anything about the vehicle, and couldn't answer any questions about it. Then, when we went in to pick up the vehicle at the delivery time that she scheduled, she wasn't there. It was her day off. And the vehicle wasn't ready, since it had only come in the night before. So we wasted time that morning, and still had to wait a few more days to get the truck. When we finally did take delivery, the sales person tried to charge us for a title search, even though both she and the finance manager had told us that we didn't need to bring the title for our trade in with us. I refused to pay it. Starting in January of 2016, less than six months in, the check engine light was on, and the vehicle began throwing a code of P0010 ("A" Camshaft Position Actuator Circuit (Bank 1) ). We brought it to the dealership, and they kept it for a few days to figure out the problem. They claimed to have fixed it, but a week later, we were back with the same issue. They kept it for another week, and again claimed to have fixed it. The code came back two more times within a month, and they cleared the code and said it was fine (despite severely degraded acceleration performance). The poor acceleration was dismissed as "it's just cold out". When it came back for the 5th time, they called in a "regional mechanic", who diagnosed the issue, and explained that it was a symptom of a different part needing to be replaced. We had to wait until both parts were available. At this point, the weather had warmed up, and the problem subsided. A year later, come January, the weather started to get cold, and once again, the check engine light is on, and P0010 code is being thrown again. When we brought it in, yet again, and told the service writer Ralph that it was the same problem as the last 4 times, his response was "You don't know what the problem is. We'll look at it and tell you what it is". I have an ODB-II reader, and I can clearly read "P0010". It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out. After a few hours, they called to officially inform us that it was, indeed, the same problem as before. We were told that they would replace the two parts, yet again, and were assured that they were readily available. Ralph got very indignant when I questioned whether the parts would show up, since we had to wait for them over and over again the year before. Apparently, Ralph's indignation was a bit misplaced. We got a call the night before the scheduled repair (two days after being assured that the parts were on their way, an obvious lie) to tell us that the parts were on "National Back order" and it would take at least two weeks just to find out when the parts would be available. If the parts aren't available anywhere in the country, then obviously there is a much larger problem. The sales manager, Jim Brophy, has been completely useless as well. His assurances of "I'll look into this, and we'll make it right" have been empty promises in the hopes that we'll go away. He has done absolutely nothing, does not return calls, and is probably the most dishonest person I have met (and in the context of used car salesman, that is saying a lot). It doesn't bother him in the least that he is selling unsafe cars, and screwing every person that walks through the door. His only concern is that the customers keep paying, and they keep collecting the warranty money from Kia corporate. So far, every person in that dealership has either been completely incompetent, or just downright corrupt. So now, we are dealing directly with Kia corporate, and will most likely end up proceeding through the Lemon Law process.

Bad brakes

by jowhowdoe2 on 03/16/2016

Purchased a car before I did , when I test drove it there was some brake noise sales person said it will go away. 1000 miles after (2weeks) the noise is still there and they didn't want to do anything about it. Service manager has an attitude and didn't want to spend the money to fix the issue

Easy and pleasant buying experience

by BillKillion on 09/08/2015

Susan O'Hearn is the salesperson that we bought the car from. She is laid back and friendly but on top of things. I absolutely hate buying a car because so many salespeople are pushy, slimy, and overall a displeasure to deal with. Susan is none of the above. Yeah, she wants to sell a car - that's why she's there - but I never felt like anything was being shoved down my throat. What a refreshing change. I felt like she truly cared about the customer - mainly because she DOES.

Great experience getting new car

by criticalbuyer on 06/24/2015

I have purchased/leased cars from Gervais before. The sales staff knows the cars thoroughly, found a car that fit my needs, listened to my financial desires, and established a deal to meet my goals. Service at Gervais has also always been a pleasant experience.

They are there to waste your time

by lucky016 on 03/18/2014

I was shopping for a minivan, and read good reviews for a Kia minivan. This dealership wasn't far from our home, so I stopped by the dealership to look at new cars. I did my research at home so I knew the MSRP, invoice and TMV prices for this minivan. When I got to Gervais Kia on a weekend afternoon, the dealership floor was empty besides a bored sales manager and a salesperson. They looked annoyed at me and my family wondering around the floor. Eventually, the salesperson approached me asking what I was looking for. I told him I was looking for a new minivan. The salesperson took me to a table where he slooooowly took me through the vehicle brochure, that I have already reviewed online. He also gave me a canned unenthusiastic pitch for the safety ratings of this minivan, which I already knew from edmunds.com site. I was puzzled and asked to see the car, or perhaps take a test ride. The salesperson went to speak to a sales manager and stalled for like 15 minutes. Remember, otherwise empty dealership, and my wife and kids are waiting wondering around the floor. Eventually, he told me that he can show me the car on the floor, but "they are all the same" so there isn't a point of a test ride. We looked at the car on the floor, and it was quite nice. I asked if they would be willing to go down to the invoice price for this car. The salesperson and sales manager laughed at me and said that no, the price was MSRP that was posted on the window sticker, and "that was a great price" for this car. They were clearly interested in wasting my time and not planning to sell me a car. I ended buying a car at another Kia dealership; further away but more respectful.

Purchase of a 2009 KIA Rio

by muriel2 on 08/21/2013

I was approach by Christian F. knowing that I was interested a used car in the lot and would like to let every one know that he was very accommodating in all ways knowing that my main concern was that I would be able to afford the car. He was very pleasant to work with especially when we needed the processing of the paper work to the insurance and my credit union. I am very pleased.

Gervais Kia - earning trust

by hawk58 on 07/16/2011

Rich Gervas is running exactly the kind of business that I wish to deal with. They made and honored their commitments, and provided a respectful, satisfying buying experience. Even their business model is to be emulated. My salesman was a summer intern, a college student with obvious passion for cars and looking forward to earning some money to defer education costs. They have earned my trust.
