Beware

by JayMurphy on 05/23/2018

Went in to have a dashboard replaced under warranty. Was told there were a few other warranty items that needed replaced including a SAS power supply and airbag inflator. When we got the car back the dash wasn't the same colour as everything else in the car. OK annoying. They say cleaning wipes will make it turn jet black. Then they proceeded to tell me that my air bags are not working. (No problems with them untill this point.) And it's going to be 1100 dollars to fix. We tell them that worked before and he said if they are not connected correctly it could fault out the whole system. Also the blind spot monitors no longer work. So we set up another appointment for them to see if it's a connection issue. Turns out it was a connection issue. (Caused by them) and they ONLY charged me 120.46 to put them in the right way. Save yourself the hassle and go somewhere else.

Respectful questions met w/excuses then losing temper

by ilikestuff on 06/01/2013

We had our 2012 Mazda 5 in for it's 1st (free) service, i.e. oil change and filter. I asked for the tires to be rotated as well. I thought... they may do the rotation for free since I got a big song and dance about how closely they inspect brakes, etc requiring the tires to be removed. At any rate, when we got the car back, having paid for the rotation, I found a missing valve stem cap on the same wheel it was on prior to the service. I made a call and spoke to the service dept director, I 1st asked about the tire rotation to which I received excuses and then mentioned the missing valve stem cap thus explaining my concern. To my shock he went from making excuses to blowing his top and making all sorts of accusations against me (?). Once he lost his temper regarding my inquires I merely hung up. A few days later I received an envelope w/4 valve stems in it and a bazaar letter from the service director blaming his technician but taking no personal responsibility. [non-permissible content removed], I have no intention of going back there. Jiffy Lube does better, more efficient Oil Changes, our old shop does warranty work no matter there are other dealerships around we can take the car too. DO NOT RECOMMEND

So far, exceptional service

by pjs_tools on 10/21/2011

Fast, efficient, and friendly service. I have taken my Rx-8 in for two services, and both were executed rapidly and professionally. The service manager is exceptionally well informed, and apppears eager to talk about maintenance and service procedures. I have always been treated as a knowledgable customer and never talked-down to.

Glad I got a second opinion

by firefly15 on 07/20/2011

I started using Tumminia for service on my 06 Tribute as a matter of convenience. As long as all you need is an oil change - I'd guess you're ok. My problem started at about 50k miles when I went in for an oil change - asked to have my tires rotated & specifically asked to have the front brake pads checked - which is normal service when you have your tires rotated. I was told they were wearing of course, but were fine. When I went in about 4k miles later for my oil change - they rotated my tires again - not necessary & then proceeded to tell me that I needed my brake pads & rotors completely replaced & that I had something leaking on the right rear tire that needed to be fixed immediately. All of this could be done for just over a little over a $1,000 - when would I like to schedule that? Needless to say - I got a second opinion from a very good friend who hates to be a mechanic, but will if forced into rescuing a woman from a bad dealership. He checked by brakes - did not need pads nor rotors & checked the "something leaking on the right rear tire" again - nothing - I drove another 25K miles on the pads - he changed them last nite - still not completely worn & did not need new rotors & there was still no leak on the right rear tire. I know that dealerships make their money on service - not selling, but Tumminia in Olathe is out of control.

They don't know how to treat customers with kindness

by ksfarmer on 03/23/2011

We purchased a new car at this dealer 6 months ago. We were treated well until we needed to have some repairs done after my fiancee' hit a curb. We took it in to have them go through it and have it fixed before a trip out of town. Originally it was a grinding noise coming from the front; which is what we told them was the problem that needed fixed. They fixed many things and aligned it, however when she got it back the problem still remained. The shop foreman told us it was roadworthy when we returned the next Monday, and we'd have to wait & no courtesy cars available. Upon figuring out the problem he told us he wouldn't tell the mechanic what he thought it was to see if he could figure it out. We were appalled. When we took the car to have it repaired the following day, we expressed our frustration at the fact the original problem was never fixed, and the shop foreman proceeded to tell my Fiancee' "well I didn't wreck the car" in a very harsh tone. We later went in to pick up the car and told the teller about our experience, my Fiancee' was nearly in tears by the time she was done. The teller(the only pleasant person there) said she would have a manger call us in regards to the way we were treated. I later received a call from an owner who wanted to get the straight of it. I told him how we had been treated and that though all of the repair experiences I have had never had I been treated so poorly by someone. I have dealt with almost every kind of mechanic/ shop there is having ran a large grain farm, but none as rude as these. He was unsympathetic to the service his staff had provided and accused me of being mad when I was speaking in a very mellow tone (even though I would've liked to told him what I really thought). Overall I would say stay as far away as you can from this dealer at all costs.

Another woman being raked over the coals

by dissappointe on 03/19/2011

I went in for a oil change. I was told my car was smoking when i drove in but i didn't see any smoke. Then they did the oil change and told me i had a leak in the front cover crank seal. Told me it would cost $1550 to fix because they had to drop the motor to get to it. I took it to another mechanic and he said that it was'nt critical and looks like oil leak over a five year period on the motor. Probably could go 2 more years like that. I ask Steve how long could i go before i needed to get it done, and he said 2 weeks. I'm never going back there. I suggest you don't either. Oh i left out the good part. After i left the dealer i went to valvoline to have them look at it and they opened my hood and it was smoking like a chimmney. Only that day and it hasn't smokes since. I believe they put oil on the motor to scare me. Very disappointed.

Tumminia Mazda needs better mechanics

by jrad3 on 03/13/2010

I unfortunately bought a Mazda 3 from Tumminia 2 years ago. I have taken my care there for maintenance there regularly. I found out that on a routine oil change they took off my bottom plastic engine cover and put it back on with plastic lock ties. Instead of using the bolts that came with it or using new ones they shorted me and used plastic ties and in some cases skipped putting certain bolts in. I had to take back the car 3 times to get this simple issue resolved and when I gave them parts to use (new parts that were not cracked like part of the old one) I noticed they kept the new pieces and used the old broken ones. I could not believe that a MAZDA CERTIFIED DEALER would employ mechanics as shady and ignorant as to use old broken pieces and plastic ties. I will not ever take my car back there, purchase another car, or suggest people ever get a car or service from them. Take your business else where and save yourself the headache and annoyance of working with or buying from [violative content deleted] such as Tumminia Mazda.

Don is the best!

by jshuchart on 08/07/2009

Own fleet of cars for several businesses and I have never written another review. Don in service has been outstanding. Mazda 3 has had couple of major issues and he has been on top of them from the get-go. Honest, sympathetic, knowledgeable...and most importantly, he actually tells you what's wrong, what he'll do to fix the problem, what it will cost...and when I ask, he tells me what he would do if it was his car! GREAT respect for the customer. Perfect example of treating the customer like he's important. Not rocket science...just kind of un-American lately!

Worthless

by garybigner on 05/21/2009

I took my 2005 6 in because the drivers seat track was loose. They replaced it, but broke the airbag module in the process. They wouldn't give me a loaner car, so I had to rent one for about a week before they got it fixed. Took the 6 in later for an oil leak ( turned out the filter was loose ), car now squeals when you start it. Also took the 6 in for a clunk in the front end, they said it was caused by the tires ( something about the inside of the tire separating, ridiculous ). Since the tires did need replacing, I bought a new set online and had them mounted at NTB. What do you know, the clunk is still there.
