Buying a car from a Mazda Car Dealer
Good deal, whats a few hundred on a $35,000 plus car. You could get it a little lower with the American Express Buying Program with participating dealers throughout the country like $34,259 for the same car before tax and title with the same options from Congressional Mazda, Rockville, Md., but I am sure they would have to find it or special order it. Also, if you elect not to take the 0% financing there seems to be an extra $1000 off offered by some dealers, but I know of only one firm dealer that has offered this. Several posts before this also mentioned it. Still, your deal sounds good, especially if they already have the car! Go for it, I am planning on buying in May but like you, follow this board closely.
Hey guy, I was in MD helping my sister to buy a car within 5 days. I picked the 2010 Mazada3 cuz my mom doesn't like the look of the civic nor the interior of a boring corolla. we own 2 Honda Accords so this was a change. Unfortunately the Mazda dealerships in this area were not very honest. They made up random fees and programs to try to trick you to pay more. 4 days before I left MD (Nov 11th) I requested online quotes from dealerships via edmunds.com. One dealership is willing to offer 17,800 for the car. Since there is a dealership name "congressional mazda" on Rockville Pike, MD right by my house (which they called and emailed me back without a quote) I decided to see if they would do a price match. After i took a test drive, set down with the internet salesman, he gave me as offer of the MSRP... (he got to me kidding me where is my internet quote?). I took out my iPhone email and said "Hey look, this is what I got from other dealership, can you match that?" he said, "damn, that's a very low number, I can try to see if my manager offers that." then he added "I know how this dealership do business, they charge you 400$ dealer fees on top of the processing fee, I would not lie to you and we only charge an 100$ processing fee that's it." He came back and said "our manage would match it and we cannot go any lower". I asked him give me a OTD price please, he gave me a TTL 18,850$ = 17,800 + 750 destination + 300??. I was very confused at first because 17,800 + 750 = 18,550 not 18,850. What is that 300$? I asked. He said "if you compare to Apple to Apple, we need to compare the fees too you know" he told me he would minus 100$ so the "fees" for you would be 300+ 100 processing + TTL + tags I asked him then "why would I want to buy from you if you would charge the same fees, plus can you prove to me that the other dealer charge that 400$". He just kept on saying Apple to Apple, Apple to Apple, he did not willing to take that 300$ off. I told him "I would have to think about it, I appreciate your time." and I walked out. It's not that I am poor and not willing to pay an extra 300$, I just found it's very unreasonable the way he does business. Apple to Apple my *beep* Anyway my OTD price from "congressional mazda" on Rockville Pike, MD was 20,350$. I ordered my car from other dealer but my family havn't picked it up yet. I will post my experience with this dealership after we pick up the car.
09 sport/auto, wheel locks, got them to throw in all-weather floor mats & cargo liner $17090 + $100 dealer processing & $20 electronic registration fee = $17,210. OTD in VA was $17,824 Bought from Congressional Mazda in Rockville, MD but had two other dealers matching the same price: Brown's Chantillly (VA) Mazda and Gaithersburg (MD) Mazda. Chantilly has the largest stock left, Rockville has at least 1 manual too.
Bought a Manual Shift Sport, in gray, for $16,888.20 out the door -- $16,850 minus $1750 dealer cash brought the sale price to $15,100, plus $670 freight, $946.20 Maryland tax, + $172 in fees. Found Maryland dealers were willing to waive the $100 dealer processing fee, though after agreeing to waive it, my dealer -- Congressional Mazda, Rockville, MD -- tried to tack it back on at delivery. Also, caught the dealer pumping up title/registration fees. I had settled on price by e-mail and ended up knocking another $70 off just by insisting that they break down the fees and explain how they were doing the math. Brown's Fairfax had attractive ads but in the end would go no lower than $17,400 OTD for the same vehicle. Castle Mazda would match Congressional but would not deal any further. Gaithersburg Mazda seems to have a bunch of 5's in stock - presume there are more good deals to be had as the last of the '09s are just coming into port.
I got two quotes from dealers on the Western side, Castle Mazda in Silver Spring and Congressional Mazda in Rockville. They both quoted me at 18200 plus or minus $50. I got my deal from Preston Mazda on the Eastern Shore, in Preson MD. Good luck! Still zooooming...
