Buying Experinence in NC - Limited V4 + Navigation
by samvij on Sun Jul 13 12:48:32 PDT 2008
First of thanks to all for contributing without which I would have paid at least $2k more than I was able to get this car for. This forum helped me get armed with info about the best prices available for this model with and without navigation system. I was almost ready to get one from NJ (Towne or Stateline) - but 482 mile drive seemed excessive. I agree that the savings potential ($2000) was also tempting. I sent emails and called local dealers with my "reference price" (the one available online from Towne/Stateline) and made it clear that if they could meet or beat this, I was prepared to make an instant deposit. Most of the sales people did not entertain the notion that it is possible to buy at this price, however, I persisted. One Internet sales team of Bob Dunn Hyundai, of Greensboro, NC - did entertain my proposal seriously, and promptly responded to my queries, and agreed to offer a price $700 less than invoice (when you add $500 loyalty discount, this becomes $1200). Towne and Stateline were ( at least a week or so ago) offering $1900 less than invoice - so I paid $700 more than I would have paid in NJ. But driving/traveling to NJ (about 500 miles) to get this baby was not very attractive either. To my pleasant surprise - when I arrived at the dealership - the car was ready for pickup - I did not face any "bait and switch" issue. The numbers were exactly as agreed by email. The final price I paid for 2009 Sonata 4-cylinder Limited Edition with Navigation, is $21035(+3% Tax+$138 Tag). The sales person I worked with is Lee ( I am leaving out last name intentionally). So far, this has been my most efficient and pleasant car buying experience. :) If any one needs any more details, please respond to this post and I would be happy to share my any additional details about my experience that may help others.
Purchased 2009 Sonata
by byefornoww on Sun Jun 01 15:05:00 PDT 2008
We purchased a 2009 Sonata GLS, slate blue, option group 3 (includes sunroof) in mid-May from Bob Dunn Hyundai in Greensboro, NC. In a nutshell, we paid $18,597 plus TTL. Following are details: $19,500 - $1,500 rebate + $597.20 doc fee + $555 NC hwy tax + $138 lic & title = $19,290.20. Also received a fair trade-in of $1000 (exactly what I expected) on an older car. Total amt financed was $18,290.20 at 5.89% -- payments of $339.05 per month for 63 months. Really happy with experience and dealer. Made an internet inquiry on Friday night, ironed out entire deal (including trade) over the phone on Saturday, they had the exact car brought in from a dealer in Virginia on Monday, and we picked it up on Tuesday. Oh, we are in Charlotte but drove 90 minutes to Greensboro because the local Charlotte dealers were a joke. ;)
Want to buy 2008 Santa Fe in North Carolina
by trumpetpa on Mon Mar 10 08:30:03 PDT 2008
My wife and I are trying to buy a SE model 2008 Santa Fe. I was hoping for some advice on a couple of fronts. First, does anyone have any experiences with any dealers in NC, especially around Greensboro? Second, whats a good starting point to begin negotiating? Edmunds lists the invoice at around $23,000 so I thought of starting at $22,500. Lastly, I have good credit, so I calculated that taking the $2000 rebate would be better than any APR deals since I should be able to get about 5%-6% financing. $22,500 - $2000 rebate - $1500 tradein = $19000 Does that look about right or am I way off? thanks in advance

In the process of purchasing an '08 Limited AWD with DVD entertainment package in Natural Khaki. Dealer installed options are cargo tray and carpeted mats. Total quoted MSRP listed by dealer was $38,170 (including the $225 in dealer options). Dealer quoted purchase price minus TTL is $33,900. Price out the door, including TTL, is $35,485. No trade. No rebates. Dealer is in Greensboro, NC and had the car trucked from Wilmington, NC. Buying experience has been excellent. Can't wait to pick up up on Friday. I'll get to see how it rides as we 'cruz our way home back to Asheville, NC.
Also bought a VC LTD FWD in NC

Very grateful for this website and info shared! Otherwise, I would not have considered a Hyundai Veracruz. Bought my VC from an out of town dealer since dealers here are unwilling to match, and this is not even the best offer out there. None of them has AWD in the lot even though that's what I wanted. 2007 Hyundai VC Limited FWD w Floor Mats, & First Aid Kit: MSRP $33,140 OTD $30,100 Bob Dunn Ford/Hyundai in Greensboro, NC No balloon financing, no competitive rebate, paid in full. I stick on my Garmin Nuvi while driving home (80 miles from the dealership), it works fine so don't feel bad about the lack of Navi system. It was a very smooth pleasant highway drive. :shades: Unfortunately I found an almost microscopic nick in the second row leather seat. With the perforated leather, I worry that it will tear even though it's small. The manager at the dealer said that I have to have the leather repaired back in Greensboro, it cannot be done at Chapel Hill, Cary, or Raleigh. That's a long trip back :( Thanks again and good luck with the rest of you.
