Buying a car from a Honda Car Dealer
We just drove our new '11 CRV EX-L 2WD (no Navi) yesterday :) Price: 24,290 + destination, $810 = $25,100 We compromised on our trade-in and accepted $500 less than what we wanted in exchange for over $600 in adds we wanted, which was a win-win for both of us I guess. We went through the internet sales department of Sterling McCall Honda in Kingwood, TX (Carla was very helpful). It was 45 minutes further than the closest dealership to us - but, this dealership was our top pick out of 7 in the area because they accepted our offer without haggling, returned calls promptly, and drove almost 200 miles in the rains of Tropical Storm Lee to pick up the model & color of our choice from another dealership for us. This supports the low-inventory claims made....and probably explains why we didn't get as many calls back from people on our offer. Maybe they just don't have much to sell. Either way - we got what we wanted and are happy with our new CRV (our 7th Honda).
2009 Honda Fit Sport Automatic Taffeta White No extras, just tint. $16529.14 Selling Price includes the destination charge +$1033.07 Sales tax (TX) +$39.24 Dealer's Inventory Tax (Reimburses the dealer for ad valorem taxes on its motor vehicle inventory. Paid from dealer to the tax assessor-collector. Some BS that isn't technically required to be charged to the customer...) +$33.00 Title +$75.80 License/Reg +$23.75 Inspection sticker +$50.00 Dealer Doc fee/processing fee =$17784.00 OTD Dealership is north of Houston (Kingwood) - Sterling McCall Honda I did a lot of internet shopping and read a lot on these forums and it was very very helpful. I'm extremely happy about my purchase. Most of the dealers here told me a deal for under $18k was ridiculous, but I made it somehow. I had almost every dealer in Houston quote me via email first and went to go see the 4 that had the lowest prices quoted. Make sure to have them disclose if the price they're quoting you includes all fees and list out all the extras that they have added (OTD pricing). I told them over the phone that I was prepared to walk away if I got to the dealership and the prices were above what we discussed for OTD pricing. I got to a couple dealerships and they pulled the "Oops, sorry that's without TT&L..." etc) before and got sick of it. My car had been on the lot for a while, so I guess it was worth it for them to move inventory. Happy Fit hunting! ;)
Here is the link for my sales review on dealership: http://www.edmunds.com/dealerships/Texas/Kingwood/SterlingMcCallHonda/fullsales.- 85641.newOld.html I only visited one other Honda dealership, just to test drive. (Also visited one Toyota) I'm curious how your group deal went? Please keep posted.
Yes. The salesman says tint and splash guards are already included in the driveout price he gave 28900. I have an appt there tomorrow (Thurs. 8/21) afternoon. I'm still waiting to hear back from Gillman whether they will match or not. I would consider that deal from Gillman. Teaming up for a deal sounds good... in theory, but also could be a logistical challenge! My schedule has been so jam-packed. I'm in SW Houston. Which part of town are you in? After researching, getting 10 quotes, making a detailed spreadsheet, sifting thru 60 emails and calls, I'm just about ready to be done with this process, you know? Was the 27036 from Sterling McCall of Kingwood? That's not the lowest as dealer installed accessories are excluded. I got a quote from Gillman which is 265 more but includes window tint and pinstripes. Does anybody know how much does tint cost? Can't believe people can get EXL for 25600!! Want to team up to bargain for a better deal?
