The demo did not have Sync, and that was a must-have for us. We bought a new 2010 Ford Flex SE. We got it with Microsoft Sync (w/o navigation screen), the towing package, and the roof rails. We had them install satellite radio and remote start as well. MSRP was 30,485 + ~1,050 for for the sirius and remote start. We paid $27.5 ($5k down payment) and got 4.64% rate. Does that seem like a fair price?

barrybuckeye: You can order the brochure at any time, but it has an expiration date that's six or eight weeks from the day you requested it. I ordered my Flex on 2 Sep and got it on Halloween morning. The brochure would have expired on 2 Nov. There have been some parts disruption delays plaguing Flex production - a violent labor strike in India shut production down for a week last month - and that's why I recommended the wait. I live in IL and got three rebates: $1,000 + $1,500 + $750 = $3,250! The salesman had never seen one of the brochure rebates, but he checked with Ford's Smart Vincent program and was happy to apply it. The brochure rebate had "May be combined with any other offer>" or some such thing written on the front. It does have to be addressed to you to be redeemed... I got the invoice - $200 price through the Costco buyer's program. Prices through Costco vary from state to state and might be better or worseOverstock.com has a program if you're not a Costco member, but I don't know what kind of deal they'll provide you with.
Buying a Flex; my $0.02

To adb3da: Treat it like a used car. Invoice less some figure. I ordered a 2010 and got it for $200 under invoice and it was brand new. Remember that you get the rebates from Ford, not the dealer, so he's not doing you any favors. I'd negotiate hard from the invoice price down. I'd start with an opening offer of $2,000 under invoice. The invoice price is what the dealer pays before he sells the car; after the car is sold, Ford sends the dealer a holdback payment of 3% of the car's MSRP. In addition, it's a demo and they're usually not driven lightly. To barrybuckeye: I just got my Flex Limited and I really like the nav system! The screen does so much more than the nav - audio, heating and cooling functions and with the engine off you can even watch a dvd on the screen! I like the perforated leather seats as well. It's a bit of a gamble to wait and see just what incentives and rebates are going to be available. In my case they went up. In about a month, go to the Ford website and request a Flex brochure though the mail; mine had a $750 rebate certificate on the last page.

On the Nav/Dvd issue, ford sells the unit with dvd installed. The Dvd disk never has to be removed. Its a touch screen, nav system. Why would u remove the dvd disk. All of my customer love theirs.
Used 2008 SE 2.3L automatic
by titletown on Sun Oct 25 18:12:55 PDT 2009
Just purchased a 2008 SE 2.3 L, automatic (basic SE model, w/cloth) with only option Sirius for $13,995 from a Ford dealership in Maryland. The car was a dealer loaner, with only 12,400 miles. I focused on buying a used Fusion/Milan because of good reliability reports and Ford's survivability and ideally wanted a 6 cylinder but most available were former rentals between 30-45 k miles. I found buying used, with the objective of saving a few thousand, difficult in this strange economy, with evidently low inventories of used vehicles propping up prices to some degree. I would like to have bought a new 2010 fusion with engine, other improvements but couldn't make the stretch for a second car replacement (replacing '95 Taurus). Hopefully I got a good deal. Love the car thus far and actually for most of my driving situations I am glad I got the 4 cylinder for better MPG.
Re: Lease Questions [rockymtnwulf]
by wnuk on Sun Oct 25 10:10:20 PDT 2009
rockymtnwulf: Just by getting rid of the wear care and using 6% sales tax I come up with a payment of $481.17 per month. Funny you should mention about the first Ford dealer you went to. First thing- he is badly mistaken and sounds like he just doesn't want to deal with leasing a vehicle. Secondly, I went to a Ford dealer on Tuesday this past week to get leasing prices on an Edge he had on the lot. I still have yet to hear back from him. A dealer like that won't get my business. I agree with you, as bad as it is in the auto industry right now, I'm amazed how some dealers still treat people. With the advent of the internet, so many more people are educated on car buying yet dealerships still come up with some crazy numbers sometimes. On the other hand- I have also been getting lease prices from Chevy dealers on a new Traverse. Two dealers have been bending over backwards to get me the numbers I want- once they realized I can calculate my own figures using their pricing, residual, and money factors. Heck, I just had a sales manager yesterday admit to me he didn't know chevy was leasing again and he e-mailed me this morning (Sunday morning mind you) saying he is calling GMAC on Monday to get all their leasing info, he doesn't even have it. He did tell me that if the numbers I gave him are correct (they are based on another dealer I'm working on), he should be able to do the deal I'm looking for.
