With the New York International Auto Show wrapping up, the car show season is officially over. This has been a banner season, with huge releases from almost every manufacturer, cars and trucks that you'll be able to buy this year. If you're considering the purchase of a new car, truck or SUV this year, you have a huge selection of great vehicles from which to choose. To help you narrow things down a little, we've compiled a list of the top new cars, trucks and SUVs headed to dealers this year.

What do we mean by new? All the vehicles on our list are either all-new, or have been substantially revised for the 2016 model year. This means they'll have the latest safety and technology features along with fresh styling and excellent fuel efficiency.

2016 Buick Cascada

The 2016 Buick Cascada is an all-new entry model in Buick's ever-better lineup. It's a midsize, soft-top convertible with room for four. At 184.9 inches long, the Cascada is nearly 3 inches longer than the Lexus IS 250 convertible.

2016 Cadillac CT6

Cadillac's latest car, the CT6, not only introduces a new naming scheme, but vaults Caddy back into the large rear-drive/all-wheel-drive luxury sedan game. With a wheelbase of 122 inches and an overall length of 204 inches, the CT6 is bigger than the standard-length Audi A8 and BMW 7 Series, but slightly shorter than the extended-length Audi A8L and BMW 740iL models.

The all-new 2016 Chevy Malibu is positioned to compete with midsize sedans like the Ford Fusion, Honda Accord, Kia Optima and Toyota Camry. This new Malibu is longer, wider, lighter and more fuel-efficient than the car it replaces.

2016 GMC Terrain

The GMC Terrain doesn't make big, splashy headlines, but it's a solid little crossover with a large, flexible interior. The 2016 version doesn't change any of that, but does feature new exterior design elements and a revised interior.

Honda Civic Concept

This Civic concept might look familiar, but represents an all-new, 10th generation of the Civic. It will be the first Honda to offer a direct-injection, turbocharged VTEC engine in America.

Don't count on this '90s throwback paint scheme to make it to production, though.

Honda Pilot

The 2016 Honda Pilot goes on sale this summer and is completely redesigned from top to bottom. It features heavily revised styling, new features and an optional nine-speed automatic transmission. The Pilot will seat seven or eight depending on options.

2016 Hyundai Tucson

The 2016 Hyundai Tucson is a compact crossover that seats five and has been fully redesigned. It's bigger and roomier and visually stands out in an otherwise mundane, if competitive, segment.

2016 Kia Optima

Still handsome, but less of a leader than it once was.

Lexus crossovers are traditionally blandly styled for mass appeal. That changes for 2016. The new Lexus RX does all of the things you want a Lexus to do. The interior is handsome and well-built and it's loaded with features, but now it's got modern, polarizing style that's sure to bring new attention to the brand.

Lincoln Continental

Unlike every other car on this list, the Lincoln Continental is just a concept, but it's a strikingly good-looking concept with production looming. The Continental name is returning to Lincoln eventually, hopefully with as much presence as this full-size brute.

2016 Lincoln MKX

The Lincoln MKX is a big step for Lincoln, with a sharp, new exterior and an interior that Lincoln hopes can compete with the big names in luxury. Lincoln is focusing on advanced technology as a brand pillar, and the 2016 MKX has a suite of new high-tech features. In addition to automatic assist for parallel and conventional parking, the new MKX goes one step further by using its ultrasonic rear parking sensors to automatically reverse out of a parking space.

2016 Nissan Maxima

After a brief hiatus for 2015, the Nissan Maxima is back for 2016 and is fully redesigned. And it looks like nothing else on the road. More than an interesting face, this new sedan has a full suite of collision mitigation systems. It utilizes active noise cancellation and active sound enhancement to electronically filter out bad car noises and pipe in good ones.

Nissan Titan

Nissan is targeting the hard-core truck users with this one. The 2016 Nissan Titan is the company's redesigned full-size pickup truck available in two frame sizes: normal and the very large XD model. Nissan's new heavy-duty big truck has a fully boxed frame, available gooseneck trailer hitch and a new Cummins diesel V8.

2016 Scion iA

Thirty-seven mpg. $16,000. Standard push-button start, keyless entry, tilt-and-telescoping wheel, 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth and low-speed pre-collision warning. For value-conscious shoppers, the all-new compact 2016 Scion iA looks as if it could be a winner just on size, price and features.

2016 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid

At the New York auto show, Toyota announced some big changes to the RAV4. Exterior tweaks and interior improvements like better materials and cupholders fell by the wayside due to the announcement of the new hybrid powertrain. Toyota didn't announce power output or mpg of the new hybrid, but the Lexus NX 200h, which uses the same powertrain, makes 194 hp and returns 32 mpg. The new RAV4 will hit dealers in fall.

2016 Toyota Tacoma

After years of being the best option in the midsize truck market, the Toyota Tacoma finally has some real competition in the form of the new Chevy Colorado. That couldn't stand for long, so Toyota got to work. Though it's the same size, Toyota says this truck is all-new. Toyota understands its truck buyers, so high-performance off-road TRD models have already been confirmed.
