Know of at least two 2008 2.0t Saabs which crossed the 35K milestone with no fuel pump issues. You might also want to pose your question in the Saab Central site which is more active.
Go for the Saab! You will not regret it. I got my 9-3 SportCombi, manual transmission, in 2008--my first Saab and it is fabulous! Saab does not require you to go to the dealer to maintain the warranty, and this is explicitly stated in its documents. I live where there are a lot of independent mechanics that work on Saabs, and many people use them instead of dealers. I've had my ... Read More
I'm currently debating on whether to purchase a used CPO 9-3 with 38K miles on it for $15,700 ($14,500 withought the CPO tag...is it worth it?) from a local SAAB dealer OR a new 2010 for about $21-22K (less the $8,500 in current incentives being offered). Both cars would be basic (just with the automatic as the only option...I'm worried about the resale value if I get the manual) I don't ... Read More
Please tell me the results of your repair work did you get the correct hoses and was the work done at a reasonable price? I need the same hoses...repaired in 2008 and now they need repairing again!!!
....and that warranty on the Saab is the most likely to be needed. ;)
Of the three the Saab would have the longest warranty at this point, and its a lot of fun to drive.
I own a O6 tsx with 6MT and nav. The only difference with it and the 07 is the tpms on the 07. I bought my tsx new 11/06. It now has almost 120,000 problem free miles. Excellent car
Ive been looking for a new car for a few months and I have narrowed my search down to these three cars. I was wondering if people on the forums had any opinions about which one I should choose. Any input would be appreciated.
I just bought a used 2008 Saab 9-3 2.0 engine with 28,000 miles. It now has 29,500 miles and I recently noticed that each time I accelerate to 30mph & 70mph, the car wobbles, or wiggles, or what appears like it's shaking a little. I have new tires but they looked like they had been balanced. I think the slight shake feels like engine related. Does anyone have the same problems ... Read More
I've known several people who had leases end recently and were in the same situation. The lease-end purchase price in the original contract was higher than the current market value on their cars. At least two of them asked for my advice because they wanted to buy their car if they could get the price down to current market value. In both situations, I had little trouble getting the leasing company ... Read More
Not a bad price, but strongly consider a "pre-owned" car as well! I had a 2007 9-3 Aero (6cyl 2.3) that I leased as new, and after turn in I moved on to a 2008 9-3 Turbo X. The TX I bought was a trade in vehicle with 11k miles that I paid $25.900 for in April 2009 (car originally titled in September 2008) .. it was a $46,000 car being ... Read More
First and foremost, what is the asking price for each car? All things being equal, obviously the lower mileage car would be preferable. From whom would you be purchasing (private seller or dealer)? If its a dealer, what sort of guarantee are they providing upon delivery (i.e. if the car is not as described can you send it back?). For what it costs to ship the car, you could consider scheduling ... Read More
I hink I have this exact same fault with my 2008 Saab 93. The cruise stopped working, would not set or resume reliably, if it did set then it would cancel itself and slow from highway speeds without warning - not a great feeling and potentially dangerous. Took it to the dealer 1 week after I bought it and they said they can't fault it, it's working fine - and it ... Read More
Looking for real world MPG information on a 2008 or 2009 Saab 9-3 Sportcombi 2.0T with 6 speed manual. For those driving manuals what has been your experience?
I have had two recent Saabs. My 2005 9-3 2.0t small turbo had few problems except needed rear brakes at 20,000 miles. Other than that, a few bulbs burned out..but that was it. The car got great mileage and was very comfy. Handling was not great. The car leaned like crazy in turns..very disappointing. It felt like they left out half of the suspension. Had the car into Saab dealer for ... Read More
New Nissan Sentras are ugly as sin. I never realized how awesome 2008-09 9-3's headlights look in the dark: http://hyperleggera.com/wp-content/images/Inline/2008_11_14_Saab_Turbo_X_15.jpg (pic doesn't do it justice, but it's the best I could find). I saw one on the road last night (had never seen one in the dark). Makes me want to buy one even more for the unique headlights. I'd say they trump the Audi R8 which I saw last night ... Read More
An inspection for a new car? If it is new (no miles) and purchased from a Saab dealership, an inspection would be a waste of money IMHO. I suppose it wouldnt hurt to do some homework/research on the dealership - some have better reputations than others. But at the end of the day, the (NEW) car will be in perfect condition upon delivery or you will have legal recourse (not to ... Read More
I really appreciate you doing that for me. Those are some good deals you found. I've seen people on the forum saying they got a 2008 as low as 24k which is hard to believe, but anything is believable in this economy. Test drove a bunch of convertibles and liked the Saab the best. The sales person offered me 34,000 for a brand new 2008 9-3 convertible 2.0T (MSRP 42,385). I left the dealer with him down to 32,000. We talked again 2 weeks later and he moved it down to 29,000. Now we are at $27,700 and I'm feeling good about it. Any suggestions on whether to take this?
I just paid 24.7 for a 2008 2.0 convertible, brand new, with manual, 17" alloy wheels; cold weather package; and upgraded sound system. MSRP was 42.5.
They're plentiful because a lot of them were leased and are now coming off of 2 and 3 yr leases. I wish I had the need for a new car- a used Saab would definitely show up on my short list. In a year or two, the supply of used Saabs will dry up as GMAC canned leasing for Saab sometime in 2008. But, somehow there are plenty of "former GM ... Read More
I just bought a 2008 9-3 turbo X with 14 miles. The car was loaded with Nav, cold weather package, touring package and some really nice floor mats thrown in by the dealer. We have a 2003 9-3 Linear (42k miles) which is really a fun car to drive (my wife particularly loves it). But I've almost had it with maintenance issues. Mechanically the car has performed almost flawlessly, but the lesser issues have begun to kill us. Here's what's gone wrong over the years: 1. 2003: TCS module went bad, replaced under warranty. 2. 2004 or 2005: many burned out headlight bulbs, followed ... Read More
I was perusing this site earlier and it was useful to get an idea of prices - so thanks to everyone who posted. I ended up getting a new 2008 9-3 Sporticombi with the 2.0t, automatic w/ cold weather package for $20.5K (original MSRP = $31.8K, for what that's worth). Wasn't considering a new car, but it was hard to pass up. So far, so good - just hope saab and ... Read More
blp1 - I would say that the price is a bit high for that car. If you look around, you can find a 2007-2008 with lower miles for the same price. I came across more than a few 2007-2008 models with anywhere from 8,000 miles to 20,000 miles for $18-$20k. Some were CPO, some were not - but as you said, the balance of the 4yr/50k warranty still applies. FWIW, I ... Read More

Hey Saab88, That's strange that those rear brake issues have already happened on a 2007...when I joined these forums before puchasing a used 2006 9-3 Aero (with only 2,000 miles on it) in February, 2008, everyone was bitching about the rear brakes going out to quickly. Obviously, I have no idea what the actual resale will be... But, usually, the highest-priced trim lines depreciate the most, percentage-wise, compared to the purchase price. Take a model that is selling closer to MSRP than it's dowdier siblings, and I think it's almost a sure bet. If the Turbo-X turns out to be the most popular Saab, ever.. maybe it will be the exception.. but, that's not the way the ... Read More
True, but with the Turbo X, it might hold its value a little bit better than a garden variety 2.0T, especially given its limited production run. I'm not saying the Turbo X would still be worth $35K in 2 years, but it probably won't be depreciated as much percentage-wise as a 2.0T would be. Plus, for those 2 years, you don't know what that Turbo X has been doing. I will ... Read More
Or.. .wait two years and buy it for $19,900? Sorry... it's just stunning how cheap used Saabs are...
Local Saab dealer has a brand new '08 turbo X on the showroom floor. MSRP is a touch over $43,000. Window sticker says $37,000. Does anyone have real world prices as to what these beasts should bring?
i've had my eye on a 2008 sportcombi listed at 22,900 with 3k miles (former courtesy car) until GM and the Swedes figure out what is going to happen with Saab i'm going to sit on the sidelines.
Hmm.. I would offer $17,500, then "bump" up to $18,000, and walk away once the negotiations circle around to $18,500. Beyond that, it's not that great of a deal. These prices assume you will have a 6 yr/100K miles CPO warranty from Saab thrown in; if not, then, well, knock off at least another $1000 or so. Saabs don't resale very well, so use that to your advantage. Also, as another ... Read More

The only right you have is to not buy the car. Unless you have a signed-contract, you have no legal leverage. I would think, however, that the dealer would work with you to get you something acceptible.

Hi Car_man, Just wondering if the $2,500 marketing support on the 2008 9-3 sportcombi is compatible with the October leasing program. The answer makes a significant difference in the monthly payments... Thanks.
Hi thegens. Saab's lease program for the 2008 9-3 does vary by model. Its current base lease rate and residual value for a 24 month lease of a 2008 9-3 2.0T Convertible with 12,000 miles per year are 6.7% and 74%, respectively. The numbers for an otherwise identical 36 month lease are 6.7% and 64%. Saab's base lease rate and residual value for a 24 month lease of a 2008 8-3 ... Read More
Does anyone know what the current lease rates and residual values are for 2008 Saabs? If they vary by model, I am interested in a 9-3 2.0T Convertible or a 9-3 2.0T Wagon (Combi) or a 9-5 2.3T Wagon (Combi). I'd be interested in a short (24- or 27-month) lease or a longer one (up to 36- or 39-months.) If it matters, I'd like 12,000 miles/year (but could possibly live with ... Read More
Those "solid black side moldings" conspicuously missing from the 2008 are the reason my 2002 is unmarked after 55K in an urban environment. Same here for my '99 9-5 with 120K and has not been a stranger to mall parking lots. But it looks like the '08 9-3 convertible pictured has body color side moldings. Reviewers always tend to cast aspersions on the quality of the material in Saab interiors. But ... Read More
We got the 9-3 Anniversary Edition w/ cold wx, auto and moonroof for the 26,700, but really 27,700 because of a return lease gmac purchase 1,000 cash back. Basically, in Detroit anyone can get the supplier price and all the dealers have the same configuration as we ordered. I would recommend calling around, be upfront with the price you want to pay and get an honest salesman (if you can find ... Read More
I figured the TSX and Avalon at around $26,500 - 27,000. The 08' 9-3 MSRP w/ NAV, and not much else, is about $36,200. Deducting the discount of about 7% ($2,540) and cash back of $4,000 the purchase price is around $29,660 - a little bid higher than the other two. However, figuring in the 36k miles of included maintenance with the Saab vs the anticipated maint. on the TSX and ... Read More
how much of a discount did you get? ALSO DID YOU USE A GM DISCOUNT? WOW WHAT A DEAL HOW DID YOU DO IT?
I was just informed by my SAAB dealer that the 9-3 XWD cars will not be available until the SECOND HALF of 2008. Meaning July or August 2008 at the earliest. Bummer Guess I'll just lease a 9-5 SportCombi Aero until that time. :(
I had also never considered the Saab 9-3 before, but with the rebates and after driving it I was sold. I bought the 9-3 Auto, Anniversary Edition, Sunroof and Cold wx package. I ended up paying $26,700 including tax and a $1000 off through GMAC lease to buy incentive. We are very happy with our new car.
Okay, I know it's a wierd comparison. My 2006 Audi A4 Lease is up, and Audi has really raised it pricing so I'm looking elsewhere. I drove the GTI and loved it, and planned on getting one. The same dealer also sells SAAB, and with the huge cashback being offered on the SAAB (4K), the Anniversary edition 9-3 is only about $1500 more than a basic 4-door GTI. I drove the ... Read More
i previosly owned 1998 Honda cr-v (awesome car) and i was about to buy a 2007 toyota rav4 cruiser L when i was put off by the long waiting list. My dad persueded me to buy a saab as he said they are mechanically well built and are reliable and sporty. I went to test drive them but felt a bit ressentfull after hearing negative feedback such as bad resale value ... Read More
